Lost Dvd Firmware
« on: June 30, 2008, 06:35:00 PM »

Hello, i hope im posting in the right place and i dont mean to upset anyone if this issue has been discussed but,  I have an xbox 360 and my dvd drive in it got destroyed and i dont have the firmware for it, so i was wondering if there was a way to put a new drive in it and if it had to be the same drive or if i could use a different one, i had a tos m28 fw version, i now have a tos m28 and a hit 78fk. if there is a way to ensert a key or something from my xbox motherboard so that it can be used that would be fantastic, sorry for being so scatter brains.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

If you do not have a copy of your original key, then all you have is a dvd player now.
Currently there is no way to extract the key from the motherboard.

What happened to the original drive?  It might be possible to send it off to someone so that they can desolder the EEPROM chip and take a dump of the firmware for you so you have your key to insert in another drive's firmware.
