Howto Remove Black Epoxy

hi
i have here a damaged samsung ts-h493

i will need to get the tsop of to read it in a external programmer

but how it is possible to get this black rock hard epoxy off?

Nothing has collapsed, that's just where the epoxy didn't get to when they coated the chip after it was on the board is all, that's perfectly normal looking. It should be fine to try in the programmer now, though ya may need to try and get rid of more of the epoxy in between the contacts so it fits in the programmer's socket better. If ya get a bad dump of it right off try that first, since a bad connection or so between the chip and socket will be the most likely cause, and that remaining epoxy is usually the problem, just doesn't sit in the socket right and ya get a bad read of the FW.
