for the record , the concept for dumping phat liteons originated from teammodfreaks
the use of the 1 microfarad cap anyhow, this was then tweaked by maximus for use with the scorpion,
this was then reverse engineered by teamjungle and the original pmt was born, a free option to the scorpion,
this was short lived by two days by more tweaking by using a technique by a russian hacker,
then a free capacitor less pmt was born, then this was put into production by tx as the probe3.
Nothing was kept under the bed as you put it.
Of course tx is a business, if tx or teamjungle were on the verge of releasing something then it
was in the interests of the business to let customers know there had something nearly ready
before people had spent their hard earned cash on something they didnt really want but had no
other alternative,
I say again a big thanks to ALL teams or persons involved with this upcoming release.

Granted TX are a business, and they have to be about the money AND without their funding in certain areas, we might not have some options available to us, AND their copying(re-branding.. & sometimes further developing) of public designs allow us to skip having to muck-around with the small-stuff in doing our own 'versions'..... But:   They still could be a little more scene-oriented, a little bit more give with their take& a little more commitment to stuff.. even when the profitability drops-off (I'm sure they have made enough from CR's etc ..to afford to be a little more open in development nowadays, the respect gained would give them more brand-faithful installers(beyond their TX-Forum fanboys)).. at the end of the day it would be win-win for them and the scene.

 We have seen a bit more of this in recent-times, but I still think there's a bit more room for being open about   developments, eg; maybe letting us know a little-more clearly/precisely what's coming-up and when at least and a little less vaporware announcements.

At any-rate, I'm glad C4 & others are receiving some kind of reward for their efforts (other than the collective love of the XS community ;-)

I can decap the controller and dump the fw, but then again, it's encrypted.

That's why I included the ''(Supposedly)'' in my post.
However, Geremia just commented on the matter, and he was involved in this more than any of us (other than Oggy perhaps..).

Now, I thank C4eva for his hard work, and yes, he should be rewarded.
But I never heard a word from him about the descrambling of this drive's fw, and FYI, it was Uber something of TX that claimed "the FW was ready ages ago"...

TheArtificer made his announcement, and what do you know, the Xk3y runs perfectly with the new fw.
In my world, that means he actually achieved something, rather than shoot marketing words all over the place...

TX makes high quality designs at low cost. They also have the advantage of being the leading brand. Cloning tech is all part of this business. Thank God we get a company like TX making them and dont have to rely on crappy Chinese copies, if for no other reason than having halfway decent documentation and support. There are some cultural differences between Tx members and non-Tx devs. And the scorched earth policy of claiming credit for everything unfortunately tarnishes an otherwise valid company. Thank God guys like Geremia and Maximus haven't turned their back on the scene like what happened on the PS3 side of things. I'm not saying they are to blame, but when C4 started to draw attention for making claims about working on a BD fw, it was not very encouraging to the devs who had been making releases.
Anyway, since nobody has said it yet, thank  you Geremia. Thank you Max. And the real thanks goes to the guys who still do it for fun and for free. The "next" C4E
