Liteon 93450c Ao20 Phatkey Failed
« on: December 09, 2011, 03:34:00 PM »

OK, first time I've needed help with flashing... just had a 2009 Elite with a Liteon 93450c AO20 mfr date september 2009 which would not extract the key using phatkey no matter what (latest jungleflasher).

First I thought my probe had broken, so I tried another Liteon v7 and the phatkey worked fine first time. I've done plenty of v7 v8 and v9 drives before so I know the procedure inside out. But this one...very strange.

I am using an eXecuter Probe 3 with a CK3 Pro.

One thing I noticed that was when using the switch on the cable to turn the probe off, is that the probe LED did not go all the way off it was still feintly lit?
Second thing I noticed was that when taking the xbox apart someone had obviously "had a go" at doing something already, as they had failed to replace the long screws holding the xbox case together, and failed to replace the screws holding the drive cover on.

So.... what is wrong with this drive? What can someone have done to it so that phatkey will not extract?
It reads original discs fine so the drive IS actually working.

Jungleflasher log file:
Drive is Lite-On..
Sending Vendor Intro to port 0xD8A0
Status 0x51
Re-sending Vendor Intro:

Serial flash found with Status 0x52
Extracted drive key failed Verification !

if someone "had a go" they could have screwed up the drive.  I have had a couple where i couldnt extract key but they still played originals fine.  I looked at the board and found nothing looked bad on it.  Talked to the person and was told power supply was put in upside down.  tested it with drive plugged in and sure enough the chip got very very hot.  what was strange is that it still played originals no problem.

worked on it for a few days and still nothing.  took it as far as mra on it and still no key no matter what.
gave up....

best guess is that someone tried to do something with it and plugged in power upside down which burnt something within the chip but not enough to stop it from playing.....

QUOTE(iateshaggy @ Dec 10 2011, 12:46 AM)

1. phatkey, switch off, probe, switch on, ok
2. switch off, unprobe, switch on, ok
3. ????
4. profit

Of course, that is the usual procedure, which I tried about 25 times. As stated in my post, it does not work.

Thanks for the help guys.
Guess I could've tried to do the dash update and get it back to stock at least.
Still think there was something dodgy with it as all those screws were missing and the drive had been opened, there was also a 3rd party repair shop anti-tamper sticker across where the microsoft seal usually is.
Can't test any more anyway as the guy took it back.

if phatkey fails and you are positive it isnt pebcak, then try the mra hack.  warning, if it was pebcak, mra will only make things worse.
