most likely is a media (are u using Verbs?) problem whats you're Kprobe2 results for the Backups?

i have the same problem mate, on hitachi 47, using verbs discs. flashed a 59 and worked fine no probs.. wierd !

I have a 47DJ model and works flawless.  Burn at 4x with MK003 media with a Ihas 624.  So there is 47's that do work.

I have just flashed my 47.

Backups:
Skyrim - UnUnrecognizable disk
ACR - Works

Original XGD3's work fine.

Both backups on verbs via iHas burner

Did you verify Skyrim after the burn.  Just asking..

Hey Guys,
I just flashed my Hitachi 59 to LT+ 2.0 but I can't get it to read any backups, only retails. JF 1.9 confirms it is now running LT+ 2.0 firmware. I'm guessing my problem lies somewhere in the discs I'm burning. ABGX360 seems to work fine and IMGBurn keeps telling me each burn is successful but still my xbox gives me the Unrecognized Disc error. I've tried 3 different discs with 3 different games, none of which were XGD3. I'm offline but on the 13604 dash. I'm wondering if I need to use title updates to run every game or can it actually be because I'm using Memorex brand DVD+R DL's? IMGBurn hasn't detected any problems during any of the burns and I've read alot post from people that swear Memorex work okay. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated as I'm getting pretty frustrated at this point(I've been waiting for LT+ 2.0 for Hitachi for months). Thx.

Update - much to my chagrin, I've been messing with the laser pot settings.  I was able to get one of the 47s (in a spare 79 chassis) booting XGD3s.  The other one still won't boot them.  Just XGD2 backups and originals.  These Hitachi drives are sacks of shit.  I had 3 drives that had lasers incapable of booting XGD3 backups without pot tweaking.  I guess I'll buy some brand new lasers as I'm not fond of having the laser work harder and decreasing its life.
