Must be a fair few people in this situation, you have nothing to lose by trying this if your dash already has the silent update wink.gif

I updated an offline box that has been silently updated to the 14686 beta dash, still getting "disc not supported" on XGD3 backups.

Another question though, does this new dash update re-flash your DVD firmware back to stock like the last one did?
Is "Disc not supported" the error i'd get if I was trying to play a backup, in a console with stock DVD fw?

If the xbox is going to be offline, why not run the latest IX firmware?

AP check's are bypassed.

Hmmm

Not from me, but have read that if you download the 14686  (NOT THE LATEST ONE!) beta dash from the obvious places then update to it. The new dae.bin isn't active so you will be able to play your XGD3 backups.

where did you read this as it doesnt work

A person on demonoid posted this in the xbox 360 section, the comments section on there had a few people who said it worked and a few people who said it didn't.

It sounded like it did work, have a look see and make your own mind up.

I'm very surprised it doesn't to be honest, you lot are using the FIRST beta dash that got released of the whole fall 2011 previw program right? (there are now 3 different versions).

The 14686 update on demonoid is confirmed by me & others as NOT WORKING with XGD3 backups on a box that has already been infected with a new dae.bin.

I commented on the Demonoid page too stating this exact same thing. Its only good for a look at the new dash, not for playing your blocked XGD3 games.

Okey dokey,

This is then a worthless thread and my apologies for wasting people's time.

Not necessarily "worthless", as you mentioned there are 3 different betas of the dash. It may be too late for me but others may have a chance if they can get a different version to the demonoid one to test.
