Hi, i am having a bit of a problem here.  My MS-28 is flashed with lt 2.01 and sorta reads XDG3 games ok, it's a bit hit and miss, coming up with random DDE's whilst playing my backups.

I have a spare Benq drive kicking around and was wondering would it be better if i flash my MS-28 key to it (no spoofing) and use that instead to perhaps help the error?

I can't seem to get any clear info on this as everyone else seems to have it the other way, eg.  Lite-On to sammy/benq etc.

Are the XGD3 backups on verbs? If they are on verbs then its possibly a laser problem developing, samsung replacement drives are cheap and so are the replacement lasers for them off the ebay etc. As far as spoofing goes its not supprted. Remember samsungs are getting old in the tooth now and nothing lasts forever.

Yeah, the backups are on verbatims, i tried tweaking the pot a little but to no avail.  All my XGD2 backups work flawlessly just seems to be the XGD3 that are a problem.

I wasn't sure if i'd get away with flashing my key to the spare benq and just leaving it as a benq or not, i do have another ms-28 kicking around that had a faulty pcb so might try the laser from that if this can't be done.

Just swap out the pcb if your soldering skills are ok with your working flashed pcb. Having said that swapping the lasers isnt that much hassle.

well, that didn't work. Changed lasers but still same problem.  Even tried tweakin the pot on this one but still no go.

Can i get away with putting my key on the benq without spoofing it as the original ms-28 with no probs???  I don't go on live ever, this is a purely offline console, i'd just like it to run backups now and in future with no hassles.

Just an update for you all, decided to go away and put my key to the benq drive.  Didn't spoof it as a sammy, just left it as a benq and my xgd3 backups are working great now.

I've been getting DDE and slow downs with my ms28 with xgd3 as well.. maybe sammy's just don't like xgd3 backups? I have a spare ms28 I'm gonna try out to see if it does the same thing.

I don't think it's my discs cuz they work fine in my lite-on drives.
