Yeah you need to put the original drive with LT2.0 your problem is that the spoofed drive is not doing the ap2.5 checks correctly and is failing. Your console will most likely be flagged for ap2.5 violation.

Buy a liteon and flash it with your key and LT2.0 sorted

Hi mate, I did think that would be the issue, I'm not worried about being banned i have a slim for online play.
What I don't get is why my friends untouched xbox with it's original ms28 drive on lt2 won't play them either
