Failed Civ Check Even After Using Ixtreme Burner Max
« on: October 30, 2011, 10:42:00 PM »

QUOTE(tomgreen99200 @ Oct 30 2011, 07:57 PM) View Post

I know that CIV checks have been failed before by stock consoles using legit disks which makes this an impractical way of detecting and banning consoles.

My question is: Why does this still happen and should this be a concern? Has anyone else noticed this?
I have made my backup using iXtreme Burner MAX on my iHAS124B burner. Also i'm using Verbatims.
Thanks in advance.

what kinda stats are you pulling with kprobe?

what settings are you using? cause i am using the exact same discs and burner but the second layer of my discs dont shoot up anywhere near that high. try OPC off, force HT on, online HT on, overspeed off and smartburn on. also on your next scan drop kprobes read rate down to 4x....hope that helps

I have OPC off, smart burn on, forced hyper tuning off, over speed writing off, and online hyper tuning off. Thanks for the advice. I will try it out. I assume all these changes are made using the EEPROM Utility tool, correct?

The EEPROM Utility will also change the settings just fine. Thanks for the info and prompt response. I will try the new settings on my next burn and compare my results with the previous test. Thanks again.

People u Are lucky i am geting pi max 1742 ,pi average 384 , pif max 232 pif average 251 , on every possible settings using verbatims ruined like 10 verbatims .

Burning starts normal until 25% and then goes off the charts and gets servo error on 30-40% when testing with kprobe2 on every disk.

That liteon ihas124b with max firmware cant burn even old backups and normal backups on dual layer disks , i think those liteon burners are worst possible for burning dual layer dvds pioner and lg were best for me thru years .

Dont know any more it drives me crazy

That sucks, hope you figure it out. I agree though, my pioneer 111d has been my go to drive for xbox games over the years. It almost always works.

I tried the same disk that gave me the error earlier and I played for about an hour, didn't receive any errors. I hope it was a one time thing.  smile.gif

I just checked the second disk of Forza 4 just to establish a better control. It looks almost the same as disk 1. I'm going to burn another xgd3 title now with the new settings. The only difference is that I wont be burning from my external hard drive. I will transfer it over to my internal hdd before I burn it. Another difference, I won't be using the computer until the burn completes. Ill update you when its done.

Well here are the results as promised:

Date                     : 10/31/2011 8:43:38 PM
Model                    : 2-0-2-0 E:ATAPI   iHAS124   B      AL0S
Disc                     : DVD+R DL , MKM001 [Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation]
Speed                    : 4x
ECC blocks sum (PI/PIF)  : 8/1
Scanned range            : 0 - 4267007
Sampling count           : 250742
Errors                   : 0
PI Max                   : 105
PI Average               : 16.89
PI Total                 : 529385
PIF Max                  : 4
PIF Average              : 0.24
PIF Total                : 7504

In most respects it was actually worse than before. It still spikes up really high when testing layer two. I think I will probably go back to the old settings. The games are working so that's all I really care about. I could live with it.

Tom if you've got a good read curve in DVDinfopro I can't see your burn being the problem here. Not to be patronising but are you positive that the image you are burning is a proper XGD3 rip and not a rip of a truncated image etc.

kprobe is good for telling you if your backup will last a long time and not become unreadable over time. It's not really appropriate for this situation, as in I find it highly unlikely it's the problem.

The read curve in dvdinfopro will tell you if there are any read issues around the layer break, preferably if you have a drive that can read DL burnt media back at 12-16x would be helpful and would show if there's a problem. The Liteon drives that burn these XGD3 iso only read at 8x for DL burnt media, the Xbox 360 reads at 12x.
