check to see if laser cable is fully in the port it connects to and other cables as well

Try leaving the drive unlocked as well...for some strange reason it performs well unlocked

The strangest in this laser problem is that it was disconnected when I was doing: read, unlock, write and relock.

I'm starting to suspect that maybe static electricity kill laser when I touched ribbon of it.

Board replaced and problem solved.

I checked again measurement of drilling point on broken board and everything seems to be fine, but apparently isn't.

I had a similar problem, found out I had broken a trace around the f/w chip whist removing the epoxy, maybe have a closer look.

I wonder if you accidently knocked off a cap or resistor? The trace that was my problem is located at the bottom right corner, the last pin/leg of the f/w chip. And in your picture it all looks ok to me also.

EDIT:
Looking at your picture again I've got a feeling you only marked the point 7 pins down. You might of cut slightly above where you should of.

as far as I know, go down 1mm too deep you get this problem... you butchered the chip bud!

But chip seems to works good (it locks and unlocks, you can dump it, erase and write).

On this photo You can see how big is drilling point (I used dremel with 0.8mm). I don't think that I drilled to deep.

I don't see any absence of cap or resistor.

That marking isn't perfect, and I took a correct when I drilled.
You can see it on this photo.

Try this, use a knife/blade or something thin and sharp to put between each pin/leg on the f/w chip and make sure they arent touching. Thats about all I have got on this, failing that you have messed up the chip. I find that using something that is blunt works better in a dremel a few times ive used a polishing wheel screw/shaft. You have to push harder but it doesnt cut fast so gives more time to stop.

Just thought of something, did you double outro the dvd drive?
