Since the announcement of C4Evas iXtreme Burner Max FW I thought I would start a     thread about the re-badged iHASx24 B drives.

Less popular drives may have a better chance of still being revision B, rather than C too.


Confirmed iHASx24 B re-badges

 DRW-24B3LT (newer drives may be C revision?, unconfirmed)
 DRW-24B3ST (newer drives may be C revision?, unconfirmed)

Easy way to tell DRW-24B1ST/LT drives apart:
Stock firmware 1.03 = A
Stock firmware 1.04 = B
Stock firmware 1.05 = C
 
 HEWLETT PACKARD (HP)

 DVD 1270i [HP DVD1270d=MTK (confirmed) both A and B versions exist (confirmed), HP DVD1270r= NEC Y series (confirmed)
 DVD 1260i [HP DVD1260t=MTK B version (confirmed) A version (unconfirmed) HP DVD1260r = NEC Y series (confirmed)

Lite-On

iHAS 122 (A revision also exists, C revision unconfirmed)

Crossflashing any re-badged iHASx24 B to Lite-On firmware (Thanks to Spark for procedure) (Thanks to Exobex for additional info)

Utilities and Lite-On iHASx24 B firmware can be found here:

Flash version based on your drives feature set

iHAS124 = baseline model
 iHAS224 = 124 + LightScribe
 iHAS324 = 124 + SmartErase
 iHAS424 = 124 + LightScribe + SmartErase (or = 224 + SmartErase)
 iHAS524 = 124 + LabelTag + SmartErase
 iHAS624 = 124 + LabelTag + LightScribe + SmartErase (or = 524 + LightScribe)

SmartErase should work on any drive, ex. if you have iHAS124 drive, iHAS324 firmware should work.

Also some have reported success crossflashing non LabelTag drives with LabelTag firmware and using LabelTag, YMMV

Process is:

1. Launch EEPROM utility and backup EEPROM.
2. Launch Firmware utility and Read Flash.

With     the above steps, these dumps will be needed if you ever need to  return    the drive to stock for warranted repair etc so it's a good  idea to   make 2  dumps just to be sure.

3. Launch Firmware Utility and make sure Update Boot Code is checked (optional, but recommended)
4. Flash the drive using the   Firmware  utility selecting the exe file. (note: unscrabbled c0deguys firmware is required)
5. Run the EEPROM utility and launch the Convert option. This will finalize the cross flash process.
6. Once this has completed successfully, power cycle the drive.
7. The drive will now be recognized as an iHASx24 B model and the process is now complete.

Once the drive is cross flashed with c0deguys firmware, you should be able to use official Lite-On firmware updates if you wish

crossflashed my ASUS DRW-24B1ST manufactured february 2010 to ihas324 and it ended up being chipset A

They didn't start making them with the B chips until last Summer, something which has been widely documented over the last 24 hours or so.

Hi i have a question.

Some people have stated DVR-219LBK is also compatible?

I have tried it but get an error saying ERROR READING EEEPROM FROM THE DRIVE?

Also the flash utility shows status 8002 and i cant backup or read?

I take it this drive is not compatible after all?

I been running a crossflashed drive for a year but mine is a -A drive but the modifed firmware from codeguy makes it burn alot better.

but what i mean is what is the difference between the Asus DRW-24B3ST and the Liteon 524 B (in the hardware)
and after cross flashing is it the same (in software) or the liteon would do better?

It appears that although this drive does use the same iHASx24 B chipset the drive itself is a unique Pioneer/QSI design and thus cannot be cross flashed. Sorry. See here(end of post) and here (version 1.2.0.9 changelog) for more info.

Hardware should be identical, and as for the firmware, one firmware may do better or worse than another, due to mediaID strategy differences/compatibility, check over at Myce if you want to know more.

Edit: ignore my first post regarding the corresponding ASUS iHASx24 B drives I was under the impression LabelTag required extra hardware this simply isn't true sorry about that. With that said if you want the most feature rich firmware for a iHASx24 B drive, the iHAS524 B (non LightScribe model) or iHAS624 B (LightScribe model) would be the best firmware.

I have ASUS 24B1ST Manufactured Date: September 2010, I xflashed it iHAS124B burn some disc they all played in my console...I'm not sure if the is a "A" or "B" I opened it to see the chip sets it desn't look like a MediaTek...no label what type of chip.

If the drive was flashed successfully to iHAS124B firmware, the drive is definitely a B chipset drive.

Agreed, it won't let you flash it with the B firmware otherwise.
