ok i have this situation:

i'm on a laptop and use x360 usb pro to connect my 360 drive's and flash them.
do u guys think it's possible to connect a lite-on burner to the x360 usb pro (so windows will recognize it) and use it to burn xgd3 backups?

Shouldnt need to, you can either get an external sata to usb cable and external molex power or just use an external 5.25" burner case and all you should need to do is use jungleflasher and flash it like a 360 drive.

That being said a new version of jungleflasher will no doubt need to be released to see the drive as a flashable device as the port the drive is on can already be selected but shows as no drive detected, but anyway those are your 2 best options either way you will ned to be able to power your burner externally x360 usb should not be needed.

On another note i looked at my device settings and noticed i already own a iHAS124 so got super excited then looked at revision and noticed it was a B so then became super bummed, but then wasnt 100% sure as the A is weirdly spaced apart so heres the image am i safe to assume its an A from everest screencap?

IPB Image

And one last thing with media does it HAVE to be verbatim? wats the errors all about are they important errors and wat will using say an imation disc do? only reason is verbatims are VERY expensive for me 50NZD for 25 as opposed to 25NZD for 25 imations

EDIT: Ok so my whole statement is made redundant now LOL Spark just confirmed the x360 usb will work for flashing and burning, Thats how we learn.
But anyway there is 3 options for people with laptops and related hardware.

For those of you in the UK and are dubious about ordering online cause you're not sure which chipset you'll get, they sell a compatible Lite-On drive at Currys/PC World. It'll set you back £24.99 but atleast you know what your getting as the model is on a barcode on the side of the box complete with the A/B.

You have 2 options

1) Get an external casing for 5.25" drives and make sure its SATA and not IDE

2) Get an external kit, SATA to USB cable and external molex power supply and just power the drive with not case and hook the USB to your laptop.

Thank you for answering bong420. I have an eSATA hookup on my laptop. Will I still need #2 from above or a different external kit? Thanks dude    biggrin.gif

You would need a sata>esata adaptor.

Would probably work out more complicated than USB to be honest.

If I remember correctly, they said not to leave the x360 usb pro plugged in for long periods of time because it gets hot, so this would be a bad idea

You can get this for $7

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but that is definitely an A and Verbs aren't necessarily needed, they are just the recommended ones as they are all the team have been able to verify as working so far. Once the thing is out in the wild then I'm sure more compatible media brands will surface.

Hmm figured id have the bad luck it seems to run with me sad.gif at least i know now.
And hopefully the imations work as i said the verbs for me are stupidly priced.
Lol just realised this new drive im about to buy is my 4th drive purchased this week these announcements always seem to come at the worst times woulda been nice couple of days ago, Oh well life goes on.

Thanks for confirming that :-)
Looks like you can take it all the way up to a 624 and get yourself the LightScribe and LabelTag features as well!

Here are some other drives which should be compatible.  Click them to find the page I got the info from and judge for yourselves. Many of these drives have LabelFlash/LightScribe technology so can be crossflashed all the way up to IHAS624. Those without can be crossflashed all the way up to IHAS524 (you can probably use IHAS624 but they still won't have LabelFlash/LightScribe as the hardware's missing).

ASUS
DRW-24B3LT
DRW-24B3ST

HEWLETT PACKARD (HP)
DVD 1270i B

PIONEER (a BK suffix I think indicates that it has a black bezel, so variations of these probably all work)
DVR-219CHV
DVR-219LBK
DVR-219VXL
DVR-S19FX
DVR-S19L

PLEXTOR
PL-L890SA

QSI
DDW-242S

See here for the crossflash software links.  I did read on one of the links that your SATA controller needs to be in IDE mode to perform the flash, not AHCI, just to let you know!

Add the ASUS DRW-24B1ST and DRW-24B1LT to the list, these drives could have the MTK A chipset, but any recent one should be the MTK B chipset.

The one I flashed is the B1ST so that definitely works.
