Sorry I was not talking about the custom firmware, the tutorial starts off with updating to Lite On's latest offical firmware for the drive. I was getting that bit done.

Well I can confirm one thing so far, and that's that eBuyer's next-day-delivery is a complete waste of time and money. Ordered Tuesday, they haven't even shipped out yet even though they have over 500 in stock! Will play hell with them tomorrow, lazy bastards.

Thats really bad, I ordered mine from Ebuyer on Tuesday, chose the super saver delivery as i'm a tight ass.
But it arrive yesterday, next day.

Also was a Type B smile.gif

Sorry I was not talking about the custom firmware, the tutorial starts off with updating to Lite On's latest offical firmware for the drive. I was getting that bit done.

You can get the latest firmware either via Lite-On's SmartPack utility or via stand-alone updates from Firmware HQ. Links: -

http://www.liteonit..../utilities.html
http://www.firmwareh...-On/drives.html

There is currently an issue with downloads on Lite-On's .com site, but the .eu site works fine.

Also, remember that you can convert the lower models to the higher models too, so: -

124B and 324B can be converted to a 524B.
224B and 424B can be converted to a 624B.

This is because in terms of hardware, all the drives that start with an odd number are the same and so are all of the drives that start with an even number.

I'm not sure if it's against the rules here to say how to do that (or maybe it's been mentioned in this thread already, cos I haven't read it all). My 224B arrived this morning, so I converted it to a 624B and installed the latest firmware (GL29) ready for c4eva's firmware!

And also LabelTag + LightScribe works on this 224B --> 624B flashed drive?

Yep. 224B has LightScribe only. 624B has LightScribe, LabelTag and Smart Erase. 124B does not have LightScribe as the hardware doesn't support it, so converting to a 524B only gives you LabelTag and Smart Erase.

That's actually the only reason to convert a drive, cos the different model numbers only denote that some have more of those features than others.

Got my 324B from newegg yesterday. Pretty stoked. I was nervous that I was going to get a different drive or something, because right after I put my order through the status of the drive said sold out lol...

For anyone in the UK struggling to find one of these drives in stock.
I bought one from PC World. Plenty in stock. Liteon iHAS624-T32 B. So... "B" model success for me.

Incidentally for anyone else who is reading, the "retail box" of the drives have a barcode sticker on the back, with model number, serial number and manufacture date. The model number DOES actually say "B" on the barcode sticker. So you dont even need to open the box to see.

No I did not! It was re-released as "REVISED". So obviously something changed in it so look harder! And don't take my word for it why don't you take a visit to the team-xecuter forums and read it for yourself...

The PDF is 50k smaller so it is different.  Just had a quick scan of both and they looks the same, maybe just a typo or something.

I think you are confused. The 224 most certainly has Lightscribe. I just got mine about an hour ago and there is a big label on it that says Lightscribe.

I am confused as to how to flash this to a 624. Do I just follow the tutorial and use the 624 upgrade pack?

Here ya go buddy:
http://codeguys.rpc1....GL27.stock.rar

And yes, he's confused. Just use this to flash and then the EEPROM to convert!   smile.gif
Ohhh and I'd recommend backing up things first, just to be sure!   wink.gif

Can someone please explain how you upgrade ihas324 to a ihas524, i read the tutorial and I understand how to apply the new custom firmware when it does get release, but I would like to upgrade my drive to a ihas524.

remember I am new to this if you don't have the patience to answer this in detail I understand if you don't reply at all.

Thanks.

Sorry question was answered while typing.
