Sorry I was not talking about the custom firmware, the tutorial starts off with updating to Lite On's latest offical firmware for the drive. I was getting that bit done.
You can get the latest firmware either via Lite-On's SmartPack utility or via stand-alone updates from Firmware HQ. Links: -
http://www.liteonit..../utilities.htmlhttp://www.firmwareh...-On/drives.htmlThere is currently an issue with downloads on Lite-On's .com site, but the .eu site works fine.
Also, remember that you can convert the lower models to the higher models too, so: -
124B and 324B can be converted to a 524B.
224B and 424B can be converted to a 624B.
This is because in terms of hardware, all the drives that start with an odd number are the same and so are all of the drives that start with an even number.
I'm not sure if it's against the rules here to say how to do that (or maybe it's been mentioned in this thread already, cos I haven't read it all). My 224B arrived this morning, so I converted it to a 624B and installed the latest firmware (GL29) ready for c4eva's firmware!
