so verbatim mkm001 are the preferred discs while verbatim mkm003 are not as good. And you say that you can tell the difference in ImgBurn!! But that's AFTER you've bought them! How can you tell which is which before buying so you can get the right ones????

I don't know why you think that MKM-001 are preferred. Did c4eva say that or something?

It may vary depending on your burner, but I've found MKM-003 discs have given better results in Opti Drive Control scans although both disc types have error rates that are low enough that it's not an issue. I accidentally burned an MKM-003 at 10X the other day and the burn quality was still good.

Also as mentioned above, MKM-001 are rated 2.4X while MKM-003 are rated at 8X, so that's an easy way to tell what you're getting.

This is also waaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than going down the Xkey route too

It's not in the long term. You don't need to buy any discs with the xk3y so your initial outlay is all you have to spend. A 25 pack of Verbatim discs costs £20 which is an ongoing thing and you're gonna be reburning loads of discs (comparatively, compared to XGD2) when dashboard updates roll around considering all XGD3 games have AP2.5.

Not sure if it will help anyone but I just received a batch of Verbatim DLs from ebuyer that I ordered on Friday and they are MKM-003 according to IMGBURN.

Was just the printable 8x DVD+R Dual Layers

Hope it helps

lol, if you think that's bad, try choosing one of the other delivery options.

I'd want c4eva to hand deliver it for that price.

I've burned a few XGD3 backups using the truncate image method with imgburn. I haven't played them since the new dash update though. Should I scrap them and not even risk it since I just ordered my lite-on burner?
Or are they still ok?

Great news but, how are we supposed to flash these drives? Do we need to open the burner in order to flash it, or just like a simple upgrade firmware flash on M$-Windows with the drive installed and connected to the PC as usual? uhh.gif

Well it says model is IHAS164B. That isn't listed as compatible by C4Eva

Ahh in the listing itself, you are quite correct. I don't think that model actually exists, though, so it could just be a typo. Who knows, though, I wouldn't pay that price for it anyway.

It will likely just be the same as a standard PC DVD drive firmware update done over sata.

I highly doubt you'll have to open the drive. It's not like flashing a 360 drive as there's no key to extract or anything like that.

With standard firmware updates on burners, you download an exe file, run it, and hit "update" and that's it. With unofficial third party flashing apps it's either the same thing, or you run it, select the firmware file, then hit "flash". I would imagine it'll be no more difficult than that, except you'll probably use JungleFlasher, select the firmware file that you downloaded separately, then hit "flash" or the equivalent button. It "should" be no more difficult than cross-flashing a burner and that's a piss of p***.

You will use Jungleflasher to flash it, that has been confirmed. And yeah, it should be pretty easy to do, no different than flashing a 360 drive - > intro -> read - > write.

You are garanteed a B chipset if the manufacturer date is between these two dates: September 6th 2010 - Present

You are guaranteed a A chipset if the manufacturer date is between these two dates: June 19th, 2009 - August 9th, 2010

You are guaranteed a Y chipset if the manufacturer date is between these two dates: September 7th, 2009 - ??June, 2009??

Buying from popular retailer and reputable retailers like NCIX, New-egg will land you a good chance of getting the B, just because they like to swap out their stock for the most up to date revisions.

Hopefully this calms people down

I bought an iHAS424-98 from Newegg 11 months ago, and it is a "B" version.  The 'egg obviously has a high stock turnover rate.

Ordered a couple of the IHAS624's from Ebuyer last night, unfortunately they have now sold out.  Plenty of the cheaper models but no mention of the chipset http://www.ebuyer.co...p;filtermfr=177
