I think the new JungleFlasher will be enhanced to add flashing of the burner FW.

It will be Jungleflasher although I'm not 100% sure why since these drives are cross flashable with eachother through normal tools anyway but maybe it's required due to it being a non-standard fw or they just wanted to keep it 'in scene'.

Thanks for the response... is there a tutorial somewhere on how to use Jungle Flasher to flash these iHas drives with this new Burner Max FW? I'm pretty much a noob... I know how to use abgx, I know how to go about burning previous games and such, but I've never got much in depth... I don't even mod my own 360. Figured I might learn something new, buy one of these lite ons, throw it in my old pc, flash the firmware and try it out... Just don't know the actual steps... Any help appreciated. Thanks.

There's no tutorial yet as the actual firmware for the drive hasn't been released yet.

It's almost certainly not going to be difficult though. Updating firmware on a DVD drive using a third party app usually involves running the app, selecting the firmware file, then hitting a "flash" button. I doubt it'll be much more complicated than that.

it wont matter, if you have that drive the firmware will be overwritten by c4vas when u flash it.

No, apparently it WILL matter. C4 has said already that the 'features' of the various drives like lightscribe and secure erase will be persistent after his firmware is flashed. The only thing that's changed is the capability to write to the entire disc.

So, would it matter which FW I flash to the Asus (GL27 or GL29)? Any word on which stock FW revisions are used/recommended for the forthcoming FW?

The iHAS124B is -04 in the USA.

That's actually not 100% true.  I have an ihas124-04 Y sitting right here. NEC chipset.  I ordered it from Newegg probably 2+ years ago and by now I'd assume they're all B models, but you have to check to be sure.

That 04 is just a regional preset since 04's need to be checked that they comply fully with US regulations before they leave the factory and the same goes for the 19's and the EU.

Then just use 524 as that is likely what he has based his firmware on in order to be able to do that.

My local PC store (or any other place I know) didnt have the drive in stock and the only one they had was a LiteOn IHAS124-OEM so I ordered it. They dont know if its a B version though.

Just had a look in my PC and found an ihas324-32 Y

Don't know if this applies to all the "32" models but be wary

OH and scan.co.uk have the iHas 124-19 models in for £14.38

I think the drives are

iHAS124 = basic model
iHAS224 = 124 + LightScribe
iHAS324 = 124 + SmartErase
iHAS424 = 124 + LightScribe + SmartErase (or= 224 + SmartErase)
iHAS524 = 124 + LabelTag + SmartErase
iHAS624 = 124 + LabelTag + LightScribe + SmartErase (or = 524 + LightScribe)

These models are almost the same, cross flashable (additional functions are managed by hardware, only flashing won't add them)
Besides these models are based on MediaTek MT1879E(124-324),  MT1879LE(424-624) chipsets

They are rebadged often as Plextor PX-880SA, Asus DRW-24B1ST, Asus DRW-24B1LT or TEAC W524GS and Sony Optiarc AD-724xS.
Plenty of choice I suppose. Only 2 chipsets, only 1 firmware needed for all. Good price and availability. Many people already have one.

How Sony Optiarc AD-724xS differs from AD-726xS?
Or a question in another way: what are chances that C4E will release FW for other very popular and often rebranded models?

It is better to ask him. He got a lot of work ahead of him....like the promised PS3 FW, and the usual maintenance for all the xbox drives and the recent burner FWs!!! Honestly, it must be a full time job paid by tx, otherwise.....I am not sure how he can manage...!

This was discussed before

The 7220 used the Mediatek chipset. The 7240/60/80 models didn't/don't.

There were a few LiteOn models that use the same chipset as the Optiarc (NEC) drives and they were all 'Y' series - so 'iHAS124 Y', 'iHAS324 Y' etc.

So it was advised not to use Sony Optiarc because they have NEC chipset as the iHAS "Y"(the old ones have MEDIATEk but they are incompatible)
