Htachi 79 Spoofed As Benq Problem With Jungleflasher
« on: October 11, 2011, 12:02:00 PM »

I just bought a modified xbox from another local guy here and I am trying to update the firmware in it.  However when I hook the drive up to my usb pro and open up jungleflasher it says the drive is a BenQ drive even though its actually a Hitachi 79 drive.  I have tried everything I know how to and cannot get it to read or restore.  I realize the xbox must of had an orignal BenQ in it and I do have a Benq to put back in it but I must first get the key off this Hitachi drive and I need to know if thier is a trick to doing it.  It fails to read the unlock audio cd with Jungleflasher even though I can get it to read from Windows.  When I try to dump the drive all I get is Drive Rev undetermined, Aborting.  Please help.  Thanks

This may sound stupid but are you putting the unlock cd in the 360 drive or your PC drive? I needs to be in the 360 drive, Ive seen many try using it in their PC drive. 79s are the worst to flash in my opinion, follow the JF and keep trying every option, it will unlock eventually.

Im using it in the 360 drive.  I have flashed about 50 hitachi 79 rives in the past but this is the first one I had this much trouble with.  Jungleflasher refuses to dump the drive and says no hitachi drive found.  Its finding the drive as a benq rive because pf previous spoofing done to it I assume.

Hi there - i've just had exactly the same problem and got it all sorted. When jungle flasher refreshes the drive list it shows no hitachi drives present, but if you wait about 15 seconds it will do the same refresh again with the same result BUT on the right hand side of the screen where you can select the drive, drop the list down and select the VAD6038. Then select 78/79 under drive revision. Play the 79 unlock disk then dump the drive.

Hope this helps. I struggled with this for over an hour - even resorted to trying my Lizard which would do everything except dump the drive.

Everytime I get an Hitachi drive I break out in a sweat!!
