Need Help Flashing Phat Liteon Dg-16d2s To Lt2.0
« on: October 07, 2011, 01:58:00 PM »

Guys,

I'm hoping someone can help me with the steps that I need to take to flash my LiteOn DG-16D2S to iXtreme LT2.0.

2 Days ago I inadvertently applied the latest Dashboard Update (via CD) after which I was no longer able to play backups. As I found out, this is because the update overwrote the custom firmware and applied it's own original firmware. Now I need to reflash to the new iXtreme LT2.0.

I have the limited edition "red" resident evil XBOX 360 elite (phat) which came with the LiteOn DG-16D2S drive. A local modder had flashed it to iXtreme 1.51 and sent me original files (dummy.bin, key.bin, etc) via email so I do have them.

At some point I had reflashed the console to iXtreme 1.6 I believe (Long time ago) and that's the FW it had until yesterday when I applied the Dashboard Update.

I've gone through the JungleFlasher tutorial but I don't understand what I need to do. It's very confusing in there - I can't seem to figure out which path I need to take.

Can someone help me out?

Thanks!!

Get the new JF with the new LT2.0 firmware inside the firmware folder.
1.) Load your original firmware in the source firmware
2.) load the new lt2.0 as the target
3.) Spoof to target
4.) Erase lite-on
5.) write firmware

Thanks for replying! I definitely have questions ...

I got the latest JungleFlasher v0.1.88 Beta (280) and installed it on my Windows 7 x64.
I also got the rar pack "Latest iXtreme & Stock Firmware Pack"

1.) Load your original firmware in the source firmware
When you say "your original" ... are you talking about the files that my original modder had sent me via email? Like the "Dummy.bin, Identify.bin, Inquiry.bin, Key.bin" ... or are you talking about fw that is in the rar pack I just downloaded?

2.) load the new lt2.0 as the target
This I understand.

3.) Spoof to target
4.) Erase lite-on
5.) write firmware

I've done this before ... but is there a place where I can look up the actual instructions? Isn't there particular way you have to connect your drive to your PC via SATA cable ... and fiddle with the tray (Closing it half way or something).

I'm sorry - I've done this before - but a long, long time ago - and somehow things seemed to have changed with JungeFlasher.

Thanks!!

Dummy bin as sorce spoof to target.

And I can just use a SATA cable to keep my drive connected to my PC? Is there any special connectivity instruction? Like turning the xbox on or off at certain points?

Also - I'm looking at this RAR package I downloaded for the LT+ 2.0 firmware and I can't seem to figure out what is the actual firmware files. There's like a whole bunch of .bin files!!! Which ones are the new FW files for my drive?? Man - this used to be a bit easier before.

OK - I seem to be getting somewhere. I loaded the Dummy.bin in the Source Firmware and it asked me if it could auto-load new firmware, I said Yes, and it loaded the firmware. Although from looking at this, it's looking like the firmware it loaded is "LT-Plus 1.1" ... is this the latest new LT2.0 ?? Or did it load the wrong firmware?

Here's what it's saying ...

Loading firmware file C:\Users\l3viathan\Documents\XBOX360\Original\Dummy.bin

Does this look about right?

Also - there is a "Spoof Source To Target" button. Should I click that before I do anything else??

before u do anything else, u need to verify your firmware.  right click in the source box and select verify key.  if the key doesn't verify, then stop, that isn't your firmware.

Yes - I was going to do that. I haven't actually connected my XBOX 360 LiteOn drive to the PC yet - But I'm about to do that next - and then I will definitely do the "Verify Key" thing; I read that in JungleFlasher.

I just have one other question - I'm using the Sata port that's on my Motherboard. I have the Gigabyte Z68-D3H-B3 motherboard. Those are the only SATA ports I have. Is it OK to connect the XBOX 360 Drive to that port? Do I need VIA Ports or something?

Guys - I'm getting "No Drive Detected" !!! What am I doing wrong?

I took a SATA Cable and connected one end into the SATA Port on my Gigabyte Motherboard and another end on the XBOX 360 LiteOn Drive. Turned ON the XBOX 360 - Booted up my Windows PC. Still gives "No Drive Detected".

I've tried both 0xFE00 and 0xFC00. Is there a particular port I need to plug the drive in??

Under Device (in JungleFlasher / MTK Flash 32) it says "Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller".

Help!

I'm using the X360 USB Pro to read my drive. Not sure if you can use your native ports on mobo. I had a via card before the 360 pro but i think the problem might be that you need another tool.

Ok - I had to switch from AHCI to IDE in the BIOS. Once I did that - the drive was immideately identified in JungleFlasher.

I also ran "Verify Key" and it looks like it's verified & all. It's saying this:
......
Attempting to verify Source Key to drive on port 0xF500

Key NOT in KeyDB
Key is: D20D01B2966ED5E5B5C568778CB8D57E
Key has been tested and verified, thanks C4eva !
......

Under MTKFlash 32 when I click on "LiteOn Erase", it says this ...

.............
The target f/w does not appear to match the attached drive!
Thsi is based on a comparison of the drive barcode
Are you sure you wish to proceed?
.............

I don't know why it's saying this!!! Under FirmwareTool 32 tab ... both Source & Target are showing the name of my drive / model / rev etc. ... Everything looks OK. Is this error normal?? Should I proceed or not?

I loaded the firmware files that came in the RAR package.
This is the file it's auto-loading ...

"LTPlus-748v1.1.bin"

Thanks.

++++++++++

I think I'm in DEEP POOP!!!

I loaded up the correct Firmware after which that "wrong f/w" error dissapeared.
I went ahead & did the "Erase LiteOn" ... at first the Intro failed ... when I did it a second time it worked, or so I think, as it gave me this:

Sending Lite-On-Erase request to port 0xF500
..............
Drive returned Status 0x72
Manufacturer ID: 0x0
Device ID: 0x0
Flash Name:  Unknown type
Flash Size:  n/a

I saw the Status 0x72 and assumed it worked. I clicked on "Write" and it said this:

Unknown flash type Write aborted !

Now - no matter what I do - my drive is not getting detected!! I'm assuming that is because I have ERASED the LiteOn and now there's like NOTHING on it.

Is there anything I can do or did I just BRICK my drive!!!!

++++++

IT WORKED!!

Sorry to have been such a pain in the ass!! Stumbled too many times along the way but finally got there!! I just had to send the Erase all over again - it worked as soon as I did (Even though it said the drive was not detected).

I was finally able to write the new LT+ 2.0 Firmware and it went absolutely fine. Just wrapped it up and tested it and its working just fine!! My backups are loading again!!

Thanks everyone who contributed! And the scene!! smile.gif
