Nevermind!! Just used another computer and everything worked perfect using this tutorial:
Only thing I had to do differently on that tutorial was to click the Samsung Unlock button to get it to vendor mode.

lol...looks to me like you mistook the dvd drive on the computer which was manufactured by samsung as the one you had connected and itn simply wasn't detecting your xbox samsung drive.
