So if you read the nfo carefully.  It says normal DVD+R DL disks are supported and pass all checks.

It then says larger DVD+R DL disks are supported with no errors while burning.

This seems pretty clear that normal DVD+R DL disks will get errors while burning, yet still pass all checks.

If that's the case then why do we need/want the "larger" disks, and secondly, what are these "larger" disks?

Good question...

what are these larger discs? anyone know?

just a report on updating a Benq VAD6038 in a banned console that I updated to 13599 via a USB thumbdrive.

played GOW3 backup and it booted up and played.. Left it running letting it cycle through the title screen and the demo. noticed after a while, I went to check on it.. screen was frozen, so I restarted. It got up to almost the title screen and then went to a black screen. ejected, and tried again. again a black screen.

unplugged console for 30 seconds and powered up and put the GOW3 backup in. it booted up, got to title screen and I was able to play it..

a quirk or perhaps a Rev2 needed of this new released LT2.0 firmware?

Haha...

In all seriousness though, I remember when 650mb was the standard for CD-Rs, but then manufacturers started making 700mb blanks. What are the chances of them adding another millimeter to dual layer DVD blanks to add a little bit of extra space? Clearly it can be done? and first to the market can make a ton of cash.

Although with DVD dying out and Blu Ray taking over I guess its pretty unlikely?

Do you have another XGD3 game to try this on? or another burn?

I think if the demand is there then someone will start work on this but it will require a lot of R&D and can't imagine that the first wave of discs would be all that cheap either.

Why not just flash the one or couple that you use? And then flash others as you need them? Chances are by the time you need all of them, new firmware will be out anyways.

is there a specific reason why the firmware has to be flashed back to original firmware before upgrading to lt2?  Why can't it be just flashed straight from 1.x to 2.0?

OMG I got all excited to play my back up of GOW3. I have a sammy TS-H943 drive in my 360 so I thought I was good to go but not so much. When I plugged my drive into flash it I had forgotten that my xbox originally had a Hitachi 47 GDR-3120L. So I have my sammy TS-H943 spoofed as hitachi 47 with LT+ v1.1 firware on it. So I guess no XGD3 Backups for me for awhile still. If I'm correct C4e changed the status of Hitachi drives to "in progress"  just today on the c4evaspeaks.com site. So i'm guessing he just started the his work on these drives. I hope it doesn't take too long but keep up the good work C4e, good to see progress being made. Just cause it doesn't help me now it may in the future. I got like 6 broken xbox360's that I haven't tried fixing yet, maybe I'll have luck with one of those.

Is there any solution to make my XBOX360 think the original drive was a samsung? I searched around but didnt see anything that helps with my problem. I've been out of the scene for a little bit so didnt know if I might have missed something.

I used to have a J-Tag 360 but it died and have reflowed too many times so needs reballing now. Getting one of the secondary error codes that means "bridged solder joints under the CPU/GPU.
I think there was away to change drive type with J-tag but not 100%. Alos wouldnt have to worry about the drive if I still had my JTAG I was thinking about buying one of those reballing stations off ebay. The ones that are around $200 but not sure how well they work. I've removed chips with my rework station before without damage but never installed one. Any body know if those cheap reballing kits work.

For example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BGA-Reballing-Rework-Station-Gray-Stencils-90X90MM-/200650529833?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eb7b41c29

Maybe I should just go with the reset glitch hack, was thinking about purchasing a cheap next week any ways.

Any help on either matter would be greatly appreciated.
