Flashing Slim Liteon 0401 Using Kamikaze Unlock
« on: August 25, 2011, 11:53:00 AM »

i performed my first kamikaze on the 0401 using the soldering iron and x360pro method last night.  everything seemed to have gone perfect except for 2 things (listed below).  and now all i get is "open tray" for all discs (originals, backups and dvds).

here's what i did...
1. i used "SlimKey" to obtain the dummy.bin - all went fine
2. performed the kamikazi and got the drive into 0x00 following all the step meticulously - i'm assuming this is the unlock everyone is referring to
3. tried to "READ" and it gave me an error prompt about not being able to read or open LTPlus-0272-v1.91.  i'm wondering why it would try to open that file when the drive is a 0401 uhh.gif
4. at this point i restarted JF and re-intro'd the drive - all still seemed good
5. i manually added the dummy as source and pointed the target to LTPlus-0401-v1.91
6. then i clicked on "WRITE" - all seemed have gone well.  the logs show good signs.  but...
7. the drive is now only able to open and close - Live seems to work.  i was able to get on

i tried reflashing and that didn't work.  tried it on a different computer, that didn't work.

did i do something wrong or is this a common thing like the eject issue many have mentioned?  anyone know of a fix?

Since you are vague on your setup, I will try to help the bet I can.

Are you using a VIA 6421A Controller?
Which instructions did you follow (intensify's?)?

Hopefully you didn't go too far with the soldiering iron. Most of the DVD Drive issues after a successful unlock and flash happen to be they hit something beyond the intended trace or the coordinates were not exact (at least from what I've read).

On the Reflash attempts you mentioned, were they successfully flashed or not?  You just mentioned, "That didn't work"

Also have you tried to reflash the OFW and see it that works?

What Dash are you on?  Did you update the dash to 1.3.15599 first before flashing over to LT+ 1.91?

Was your Drive virgin when you started?

Double-Check all DVD Drive connections (could be a issue with the Xbox DVD Drive power cable since the Eject is sent through that). Also if you unsoldiered and resoldiered the White, Black, Red, Yellow, Green wires I would check those.

Have you tried original games to see if they are recognized?

Check out these steps as mentioned on Microsoft's Support Site (Support)

Worst case scenario is to purchase a blank Unlocked PCB.

Hope this is not a hardware problem & that the LT plus 1.92 (slim liteon's) will be able to fix that
The error you done is that you haven't a full-dump of your firmware !
did you tray to flash the drive again with it's original OFW 0272 ?

i tried getting the full dump.  JF wouldn't let me dump saying it cannot read lt+191_0272.bin.  why would it think or even say that?

and i actually tried using 0272 too, but JF said write attempt to drive failed.  my drive isn't a 0272.  or is it?  all attempts using the 4010 works and 0272 does not.

Can you post a pic of the top of your DVD Drive so we can help ID the drive? Also a screenshot of what JF says in the Drive Properties Window of what JF says your drive is.

JF should have let you dump the whole drive without issue. I had no problems. I dumped the key only and also a full dump one after another.

If you had issues dumping the drive to begin with you shouldn't have tried to WRITE firmware in the first place. That's just asking for trouble if something should happen (like this situation).

If you DO have the drive key, then please post a pic of the drive you have...then we can get you going in the right place (hopefully).

Hi

A bit off sry;

"Connect the SATA from the DVD drive to the VIA 6421 card and the power to the PMT Hack cable (See here for cable construction: PMT Hack Cable ). The other end of the power from the PMT Cable connects to a SATA power connection on the PC.

Power the PC on and run Jungle Flasher.

Go to the MKT Flash32 tab and make sure your DVD Drive is showing up on the left side under the port selection (this is in the Drive Properties section). If it isn't showing up, make sure you have the proper port selected. Also double check that the power is getting to the drive.

Click on the "Slim" tick on the right side under the buttons in the "Flashing Tasks" section.

Click on "Intro/Device ID". It may ask to send the unlock command…click on NO.
It will then ask to resend vender info to drive. Click on YES…Power off the drive…

Then get the probe from PMT Hack Cable and probe point “MPX01” it has a white circle around it…now Power the drive back on.

You should get the vendor info to read with status 0x72. When you get this you can remove the probe."

Can i use this method on a virgin 0401?
I would like dump the drive first then update it from 12611 to 13599. But i have only via card + pmt. So slimkey and unlock doesn't work.
Is that ok for the first dump or better if i wait till i get the ide2sata?
Btw i have onboard sata as well JF see the drive  but no success.

Thanks anyway
