i performed my first kamikaze on the 0401 using the soldering iron and x360pro method last night. everything seemed to have gone perfect except for 2 things (listed below). and now all i get is "open tray" for all discs (originals, backups and dvds).
here's what i did...
1. i used "SlimKey" to obtain the dummy.bin - all went fine
2. performed the kamikazi and got the drive into 0x00 following all the step meticulously - i'm assuming this is the unlock everyone is referring to
3. tried to "READ" and it gave me an error prompt about not being able to read or open LTPlus-0272-v1.91. i'm wondering why it would try to open that file when the drive is a 0401
4. at this point i restarted JF and re-intro'd the drive - all still seemed good
5. i manually added the dummy as source and pointed the target to LTPlus-0401-v1.91
6. then i clicked on "WRITE" - all seemed have gone well. the logs show good signs. but...
7. the drive is now only able to open and close - Live seems to work. i was able to get on
i tried reflashing and that didn't work. tried it on a different computer, that didn't work.
did i do something wrong or is this a common thing like the eject issue many have mentioned? anyone know of a fix?
Since you are vague on your setup, I will try to help the bet I can.
Are you using a VIA 6421A Controller?
Which instructions did you follow (intensify's?)?
Hopefully you didn't go too far with the soldiering iron. Most of the DVD Drive issues after a successful unlock and flash happen to be they hit something beyond the intended trace or the coordinates were not exact (at least from what I've read).
On the Reflash attempts you mentioned, were they successfully flashed or not? You just mentioned, "That didn't work"
Also have you tried to reflash the OFW and see it that works?
What Dash are you on? Did you update the dash to 1.3.15599 first before flashing over to LT+ 1.91?
Was your Drive virgin when you started?
Double-Check all DVD Drive connections (could be a issue with the Xbox DVD Drive power cable since the Eject is sent through that). Also if you unsoldiered and resoldiered the White, Black, Red, Yellow, Green wires I would check those.
Have you tried original games to see if they are recognized?
Check out these steps as mentioned on Microsoft's Support Site (

Worst case scenario is to purchase a blank Unlocked PCB.
