No Original Firmware
« on: July 11, 2011, 07:59:00 PM »

I have now 3 consoles here that the dvd drives seem to be stuck in vendor mode.....Is there any way at all to replace the dvd drive without the original firmware from the drive? I have the drive but no backup flash........I hate to trash 3 consoles because of it but might have to.

I read threads about having the physical drive with serial number etc and creating a dummy bin to flash a new dvd drive with???? I have no idea if this can be done or not??

Any help is greatly appreciated

go into console settings and in consle information you would see a line of numbers...you would see in the second to last line of numbers either it would say 6xxx, 737x, if it is beyond those two, its not jtaggable

well I know what you mean there for checking the dash version but the thing is when i boot up I get the E65 I think it is.....dvd error or wrong firmware etc....so I cant get into the dashboard to check the version...any thoughts?

Im thinking about changing the dvd with a working one from my other console just to check the dashboard version as I know any dvd drive will work but will not play games...just dvd movies which is weird but at least then i should be able to see what the dash version is

Just unplug the drive and power up the console, you would get the dashboard loaded and you can get your dash version
