Spoofing Confusion?
« on: June 15, 2011, 05:56:00 AM »

I have a 360 that had a lite-on in it originally, the drive motor went so i replaced the lite-on with a benq and spoofed it as lite-on.Works a treat. New MS update released , flashed the benq back to stock fw (benq stock) did the update, then flashed benq 1.9lt no spoof and it works .Why does it not need spoofing?

If you had a spoofed drive and made the update, that update should have failed (according to everything i have read.) I'm a little confused too, maybe someone knows more.

I didnt just have the one spoofed either both benq spoofed as lite-on , after updating with orig benq firmware no need to spoof 1.9 lt , used benq 1.9 ? I couldnt find anything in the faq`s on the new update about this?

so if you tried to update your xbox that originally had a liteon, which you replaced with a benq that is spoofed as a liteon, ==> then the update should have failed. as the poster above also replied.

on the other hand, if you didn't spoofed your drive (which isn't necessary at all after the/since the 9199 dash), the update should have failed too i believe. unless the dash doesn't care that the osig doesn't match up (=a liteon is expected, but a benq is really found) and flashes the drive it actually is there nonetheless (but this would seem risky and a flag is most likely).
