i guess the main thing i am wondering is...

does this update ENABLE AP25 support in Samsung DVD-ROM drives for the 360's?

because previously it was not possible for Samsung's to support AP25. i assume the firmware update enabled it?, or is it physically impossible for AP25 to be supported on Samsung's? ... or was the update on Samsung's SOLELY to support the extra 1GB of space?

The drive doesn't support it officially so it's impossible to implement it unofficially. Microsoft just bypasses AP25 on Samsung drives because it's impossible to implement. So no need worry.

I"m assuming the safest thing to do, would be to reflash to stock firmware, then do the dash update. let it boot a couple of times... then flash to LT1.9.

I am wondering the same, othewise if u just flash LT+1.9 to xbox and connect on line, it will update and reflash the FW, plus Ban the console (Not conffirmed).

so basically the drive's hardware it self cannot support it and the update to the firmware is solely for the XDG3 disc format (i.e. so the Samsung drive can support that 1GB of extra space)

Hi guys I just came back to xbox scene after a year hiatus. I just need to know if the current Halo Reach game has got the new ap25 challenge in abgx360 ready or do I have to wait? Also will it to be patched with xgd3 data/whatever from the halo reach xgd3 beta disc? If it does then what's gonna happen to those with legit disc?

I don't mind using my original disc but I play this game a lot so letting it get scratched is not an option.

Hey,

I have an Hitachi 79 drive, I put stock firmware on it and did the update.  The key location stayed the same as the older version of JF still read the keys after the update.  I believe C4eva said that Hitachi drives are 'ignored' in the update as they have no ability to handle AP2.5 challenges.

I'm going to use it on Live as I don't think new firmware will be released for it because it is not needed.

People say Hitachi sucks, but we won't have to reburn our 'back ups' so I'll take my low tech Hitachi over a lite-on.

Hope that helps, but as always there is a risk.

Later.

Bud... is official, OLD HITACHI dont need a new CFW and those drives are already prepared to read XGD3 they just need to accept the update.
Thats the reason cause they are not reflashed after accept the systemupdate.

I also think that it's safer to:
1. Write the OFW
2. Update Dash to latest. Restart few times. Play the original disc.
3. Write CFW (1.9 or 2.0)

Somehow I feel that if Microsoft can write DVDROM FW during the update, I'm sure they can read it prior update as well. And if MS can read it, they can make a record somewhere (or in other words - flag a potential victim).

Of course this is not a reason for ban as after the update console gets OFW. But during the next update MS could check the record and if a guy again has a CFW somehow punish him (don't let update the dash until CFW is not written back to stock, ban the poor guy etc.).

My advice: flash back to OFW before updating the Dash.

Hey C4!, If you ever read this. Do me a favor!. Stop what you are doing and take a break and grab a breath of fresh air.

I am grateful for what you do and would much rather you do what you feel you need to do on your own time then feel pressured or irritated at everyone grumbling and moaning about release dates and "soon" notices etc.

For a lot of us, we have waited patiently for the releases of LT+ and the soon to be released LT 1.9 and LT 2.0 but for me at least, I've waited even longer for someone else to step up to the plate and show us that they too can work the code like C4 but it hasn't happened yet so I will appreciate what I get when I get it because it's free and no one else is offering it. biggrin.gif

Have a great memorial day everyone!

Do I have to read the key for my slim Lite-ON 9504 before I update?

Or can jungleflasher read the key after the update ?

Hitachi 79 supports AP2.5

This is likely nothing more than the usual reason Hitachi gets updates last - they have so many different firmware versions it is more work than all the other drives put together.

* 02501c – use of 93450c LT+ NOT recommended

Does that mean even LT+ 1.9?  Or even 2.0? and Why not recommended?

Not untill further notice! (Ie; at least wait untill LT+2.0) There are 2 good reasons on this.....

Which one MS28? I dumped the firmware files from the system update itself there are 3 different FWs none of which are for a Sammy , Just Sayin , my research shows differently. I have the Benq , Phat Lite-on and Slim Lite-on OFW. I did a customer machine this morning with an MS28 spoofed as MS25 err actually it was an MS25 but LT+ made it into an MS28 , with only one release of LT for Sammys , anyway it checked the drive 3 times once i put the stock ms25 FW on it , but did not flash anything new too it , I checked , and when i put LT back on it as an MS28 it worked fine again.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure if they're not updating the OFW on sammy's then they are using previously un-used CDB commands to read XGD3 (Without AP2.5, it will just skip the check as before) New CDB commands being thrown at the CFW means need new CFW..

Tiros rocks, (thanx fer Nandpro BTW) But we all sometimes make generalisations that might not live-up to the scrutiny of time etc.. He might have meant without hardware assistance, or he could have meant without being detected by live, He might be correct yet...... Many a guru has made a statement like 'The 360 will never be hacked..' etc.. you get the idea. Like I said the man rocks, in his areas of specialty his a god and just because there may be exceptions to his previous statement, should not have anything read into...

LT 1.9 will be pretty much LT+ with AP2.5 updates, 9504 FW is a different kettle of fish (as are all slim drives) and M$ have had time to pry at his 'rootkit' tech. The slims are the new battle-ground and C4 wants to get it right. I'm a little worried about his more recent statement regarding 0225 series FW:

Hey guys I have a phat lite-on, 93450C.  I did not re-flash back to OFW before updating.  I know I should have but I guess I was in to much of a hurry.  I have an original of black ops & needed to play online.  But I am not flagged for a ban yet at least according to x-val I'm not.  Then again if I am I will just sell on craigslist or ebay and just buy another one, but this time I will get a jasper instead of my falcon.  I also have a slim 9504 and will not be updating that one until the new cfw comes out.  It looks like the slim 9504 will be the 1st one released which is great!!!
