Apple relaxed and didn't do anything to geohot. He messed with Sony, different story. Seems MS has been relaxed about c4eva for so long. How long before an individual that causes possible monetary loss to an American corporation maintain his freedom?

C4EVA did not do anything to violate anything.

God dam people on here i remember with the old xbox you had a choice mod your xbox and no live forever or go on live without a modded xbox that was the choice, now every one expects live as a right.

God forbid if c4eva ever get taps up by microsoft as no one else would be able to carry thew scene forward

That's not strictly true, there was dual boot.

i think thats partly his point, it was either use mods and stay offline, or dont use mods and go on live

afaik, even with dual boots, it was like that.

Bud... is official, OLD HITACHI dont need a new CFW and those drives are already prepared to read XGD3 they just need to accept the update.
Thats the reason cause they are not reflashed after accept the systemupdate.

i think they probably wont support xgd3. im no expert, but i believe the reason they are ignored is because they're either too risky to flash, or the xbox just doesnt support flashing them. remember, they arent flashed the same way as the other drives. (arent ms offering slim's for people with hitaci drives?)

M$ is still making lots of money, just check how much the hardware costs. All the peripherals, the controllers, batteries, xbox live, DLC's. etc., costs you already hundreds of $$.

Well you would think ms would fire c4e and his team and not lose so much money.sony did not do much to hotz
Just as far as I can ask him to stop .if anything sony want to concentrate on the security of the 77 million users
Who has the details stolen .sony need people like hotz working FOR them maybe then they may be secure ..

GeoHot was an attention seeker who done stupid things like interviews in person, he deserved to get caught. C4E and co have so far remained pretty anonymous, as it should be.

I can guarantee you that MSFT already knows everything about him.  At this point it is a bad idea to go after one hacker who may be costing them money but nobody knows really how much he does cost them.

Do you think if Sony had it to do all over again they would sue Geohot?  I'm guessing the backlash from hackers was too costly.

I'm not sure, I'm just speculating on something valid I think. All I wanted to say was that MS has remained calm so far and they're stepping up protection on their end and not taking the billion dollar corporation route of unlimited lawyers to stop the person creating the modified firmware.

If Hitachis don't support XGD3 then I doubt MS will use XGD3, not without recalling all Hitachi-equipped 360s.  If they say "we put a different drive in your 360 so you'll have to go buy a new one to play these games, even though your friend has an older 360 and theirs works fine" people will kick off, and rightly so.

Yeah, since Hitachis are not flashed (not to say they won't eventually be), I'm starting to wonder if this firmware update has nothing to do with XGD3 support. The pieces just don't seem to fit together.

I am beginning to agree with you. I guess within a few weeks when retail games should be shipping with XGD3 format we will know more.
