Got a slight issue maybe someone can help me out with. I'm trying to do this 9504 drive. I've done many drives in the past no issues. (using ck3 lite and via pci card). I ejected the dvd drive and then let it go back in like normal. Power cycled it. Rebooted PC so I could start fresh. I opened up JF. I'm on the right I/O port and I see the drive properties and it shows the dvd drive there. I go to dvdkey32 tab and press slimkey. I click no, and then the mtk vendor intro failed box appears. I press yes, and then I go to my ck3 and I flip the switch to off, then to on within 1 second (aka, off on under a second). Yet, I can never get this damn thing to go into vendor mode. I've tried the half way tray trick and still nothing. I've tried clicking yes to resend the command then waiting a couple of seconds, then doing the off/on but no luck. Not sure what's up. I normally like to do all this in dosflash but I dont know if dosflash works with the new dvd drive so I have not even tried to do it that way.

Anyways, if anybody got any ideas for me to try let me know. Thanks -Sleven

Oh, and sorry about the title. I forgot to add more details to it. If a mod could change it to "Lite-On 9504 MTK Vendor Mode Failed" that would be great.

try reading the tut.  pretty sure it doesn't say anything about doing all the stuff u said u did.

Went through the doc. I saw it mention trying to turn the drive off first, then press Yes, then wait then turn it back on. Tried it. Does not work. Nothing else in that PDF helped.

9504: USB PRO: Could get into vendor mode but could not read the key.  Figured out I had to Update my USB PRO to the new firmware.  After the update worked first try.

Also, when I power off drive I wait about 3 seconds before powering back on.

Have an 0225 drive as well and read the key first try with same method.

Tried to spoof 9504 with 0225 key and could not get it to work.  Always fails to authorize after write.  Read your key back after write and notice.

Yes, I plan on ordering the usb pro. Just thought I could get this first one with my VIA card but doesn't look like it. Lame. I'll try your steps and see if anything changes.

I ordered the 360usb and going to see if that makes a difference. Still in transit. Will report back letting you know if it worked or not.

Read on another post here...(props to lodger) for 0058 status.

I had a bad READ which resulted in my Slim not getting into vendor mode.

Try this:

Get into JF with the Slim connected where you have the drive recognized by JF.

Press (keyboard)
 Ctrl+Shift+F9
Click Intro device(hopefully this puts it in Vendor mode)
Click Read..save files
Click  Ctrl+Shift+F9
Click Intro device(hopefully this puts it in Vendor mode)
Click WRITE

I am writing this from memory...I will post the link to podger comments shortly.

The x360usb worked first try. Good by VIA card.

Not bad for a glorified usb 2 sata that [ican do anything a $10 VIA card can do[/i], eh?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I'm not sure just why it was failing anyway, it "should" work - although I havent had a VIA card for over a year now. A JF Log / video would have been nice to work with.

If you get another drive to do, if you could capture that before using the x360, I'd like to see it if possible, thanks.

Good to see you got it working in the end. All-be-it with an x360.
