No one ever said slim drives were coming before Christmas. The report was LT+ was coming before Christmas. No ETA on slim drives.

Will this LT+ firmware be only for hitachi revisions 78 and 79 (the ones that capable of reading AP25) or for all revisions?

Yes. That question has been covered again and again. Only 78/79 has been discussed so far. Any other firmware for Hitachis has not been announced for release. If new firmware is released for other revisions it will be announced, but don't hold your breath.

So basically ix1.51 for earlier hitachi (non AP25) revisions performs same way as new LT+ as far as booting games and passing current checks on live? Or is it not safe for live?

iXtreme 1.51 for Hitachis is not considered "LIVE-safe", but it's the newest firmware presently available for Hitachis. If a drive/OSIG combo doesn't support AP2.5, backups of AP2.5 games should work just fine.

if its not "considered" live safe then why is it the current recommended fw listed on this site's sticky topic?

Anyone have an idea if I will be able to flash my Hitachi 78 to this LT+, and then spoof it to LiteOn?

Yes, I know "there is no point in spoofing because it will be detected".

The thing is, I am banned from Live. The stock drive in this 360 was a LiteOn but it died and so I had to replace it with the Hitachi from my older RROD 360. Right now, I cannot boot games like Assassin's Creed Brotherhood because, apparently, it expects AP25 info from the Liteon my drive is spoofed as, but of course the Hitachi cannot provide it.

Because it's the newest and most advanced firmware. Firmware is never considered "safe" for LIVE. If you flash your drive, you will eventually get banned. If newer firmware is released the recommended firmware will be changed.

If your drive was originally liteon why not buy the same liteon drive and flash this with LT +  biggrin.gif

Well, obviously I don't want to shell out any money if I don't have to.

Get your facts right. See the BOLD?

Hitachi IN FINAL TESTING,
RELEASE SOON
(weekend release was
delayed due to some
code improvements)

versions 78/79 for AP2.5
versions 59 and lower do not have AP2.5, but have some changes to ensure they conform to LT+ standards

Keep things respectful or you could find yourself on vacation.

I quote from the Team Xecuter site as referenced on the X-S front page:
QUOTE
Plus after much work and heavy testing, C4E has finished the LT+ for Hitachi 78 and 79 and it is confirmed that they now boot AP25 backups ! We are currently testing and hope to announce the official release shortly. There are also plans to make LT firmware for the older Hitachi drives but without Ap25 as it’s not required. LT+ for Slims is the priority at the moment. FYI iXtreme 1.51 still works just fine with AP25 (many are still using the older Hitachi’s on XBL – however we can’t guarantee that it is XBL safe so use at your own risk).

Only Hitachi 78/79 have been announced. LT+ for slims is higher priority than older Hitachi drives. Older Hitachis will come eventually, but they're not highest on the to-do list.

Until I see official confirmation from someone involved in the project (like OggyUK, etc.) that other Hitachi drives are in progress, I stand by my statement. Granted, something might have changed since the last official update, but I will wait until official confirmation before giving in to rumours.
