Computer Won't Recognize Lite-on Drive
« on: December 16, 2010, 06:19:00 AM »

I have an old desktop I'm trying to use to flash my lite-on drive with. It's a Asus A7N8X deluxe and running XP. It has a NVIDIA nForce2 chipset and two built in sata ports. I have used the two sata ports before with some laptop HD's (I use this desktop to backup my laptop hd's) so I know the ports work. When I hook up the lite-on drive windowz doesn't see any new hardware. I have tried this powering the drive before starting windowz, and also once windowz has started, but neither way the drive is recognized. Is there anything I should try?

What about buying a VIA6421, would it work with this motherboard?
