Maybe if microsoft would stop waisting there money changing drives in there systems and put the money to good use with other things like maybe implementing some sort of internet browser for the xbox and say youtube people wouldnt try to hack there systems as much?

But no thell waist there money trying to stop us from hacking wich is never gonna happen! And is it me or did they just take a step backwards going back to the shitty hitachi drives wich were almost all junk for the fat xbox 360 im sure they wont be any better for the slim!

lol @bbsal

How are Microsoft "WASTING" money by doing this? lol and why you want internet and youtube on a gaming device is beyond me. But i'm pretty sure that's the last of their priorities.

They're loosing money by people "hacking" their drives. so making a new revision every so often MAKES them money. They don't waste a cent.

Why would they go back to Hitachi drives.... the BenQs and Lite-Ons (IMO) are the most reliable drives they've used.

The Samsung and older Hitachi were just plain loud, especially during seek on the laser sad.gif

I wonder the same thing. I literally said out loud, "They went back to Hitachi? Really!?!" I couldn't believe it.

It's interesting to note that the drive was manufactured in September, the month after the proof of concept for the Slim DVD-ROM hack was released. MS really seems to be cracking down on custom firmware as hard as they can.

ok so now we have a new drive ill take it MS are pissed wiv lite-ons inability to make a truely secure drive, lets face it like 6 revisions on and its still getting hacked, the only way hitachi would have secured the new deal for making drives again would to have some decent security updates compaired to the old hitachis

BUT as always its stupid of MS to switch to another dvd drive type after all the efforts made to make lite-ons unflashable lets face it they where pretty close with the trace cut drives, yeah i know they where still hackable but atleast it stopped any tom dick or harry just flashing their drive coz its takes 2 seconds and a sata cable

all that can be said is that c4e needs to get his hands on one of these then we will get the true picture

Ok so dick and harry won't be able to do it themselves but they will still go to TOM and pay him 50 pounds/euro or 70 bucks or whatever to get it flashed.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) and the only difference will be that TOM who knows how to cut traces and solder will be a bit richer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Just cos the old hitachis were a pile of crap doesn't mean this one will be, they've had a few years now to design something better and m$ is touting the slim as having a quiet drive.

Oh Man MS is getting ahead of the game and we only have one guy (c4e) making custom firmwares .Its like David and Goliath . I wish there were more than one guy making Xtreme FWs .Waiting for the slims to be hacked is taking awhile .But there is only so much one guy can do. And what a super job he does .

Is it more like that because the hole they use to dump ALL the drives ever released FW can be patched somehow,THATS why C4E is the only author of firmware, not because he is 1 unique being amongst billions!
Ah,to see that old Hitachi label once more.
Its a beautiful thing!
