Lite-On LT + v1.1 support
Benq LT + v1.1 support

wonder what has changed

mod edit: news article added below
QUOTE

C4E released a new version of the iXtreme LT+ modified FW for ("phat") LiteOn (74850, 83850V1, 83850V2, 93450) and BenQ DVD-drives.

What's new/fixed:
- xbox 1 backup support (iXtreme compatible, DVD9 only)
- improved pfi support

There's also some WIP news about the LT+ FW for Hitachi-LG drives on team-xecuter.com:
QUOTE

Plus after much work and heavy testing, C4E has finished the LT+ for Hitachi 78 and 79 and it is confirmed that they now boot AP25 backups ! We are currently testing and hope to announce the official release shortly. There are also plans to make LT firmware for the older Hitachi drives but without Ap25 as it’s not required. LT+ for Slims is the priority at the moment. FYI iXtreme 1.51 still works just fine with AP25 (many are still using the older Hitachi’s on XBL – however we can’t guarantee that it is XBL safe so use at your own risk).

Link is in #fw on irc

A person on IRC said that 'improved pfi support' (improved Physical Format Information support) means the new firmware can handle low quality non-verb discs better, so you get less jitter and less disc read errors. But that was only what I was told on IRC so it could be an incorrect explanation...

I think it is still recommended because apparently the 'Disc Jitter' is monitored by microsoft so they could use the information when banning people. But once again that is just what I have been told over IRC so not 100%

I found this on another forum.

QUOTE
PFI Sector (Physical Format Information):
This sector is contained within the lead-in and contains information about its physical format. Disc booktype, start PSN and end PSN and Layerbreak are contained here. Currently all Xbox360 and Xbox1 games have the same PFI information, but that may change.
On Writable media (our backups), this also contains media specific information such as Media Code/Manufacturer ID and Media Product Revision number.
Any requestes for this information is now redirected to the the PFI sector now at $04FB1D (for Xbox 360 backups) or $0605FD (Xbox 1 backups), if it exists. If it does not exist (pre V3 backup) a seperate embedded PFI is used for Xbox 360 and Xbox 1.

You should always update your firmware when a new version comes out.

I don't think that should be a problem because:
1) jitter can be caused by dying DVD drives or scratched and dirty discs. So M$ can't ban people on these bases alone, that'll end up banning a lot of people with old xboxes.

2) You can just use verbatim and install all your games on the harddrive. Which is something you should do anyway because burnt media will eventually wear down the laser.

So Xbox Legacy games are supported again?
I can't help but think why, unless your console is no longer able to connect to Live, or you simply don't use Live at all.
