Ck3 Lite+probe Over Serial Port.
« on: February 03, 2020, 10:32:00 AM »

I have a virgin Lite-On 7 drive.
I have all the drivers installed (PortIO32, Disabled VIA) so on.
The CK3 Lite is hooked up properly. DB9 -> CK3 Board -> Molex -> Power to Drive+Probe etc.
The board lights up with the blue light as opposed to red which is the other Mode.
I have both Blue and Green lights on probe when inserted into R707 (Bright Neon Green Light, not the dull green)
I cleaned the PCB and i have plenty of contact cleaned.
I have the drive put into vendor mode by sliding the tray in while powered off. It is powered off through the CK3.
All the steps leading up to DVDKey32 seems to be correct. I have read through many other posts. So, I have tried power cycle on Windows Boot method, I have unwrapped the cables leading to the probe. I have power cycled numerous different ways. I have checked BIOS to ensure that my Serial port is activated. However, in Bios (Asus M2N SLI Deluxe board) I do not have the option to enable or disable COM1.
When I load up JF'er I can see in the right pane for Com Port
Port:COM1
Type:Standard
Name:Communications Port
Status:Ready

I am lost now, I just continue to recieve Warning Bad Serial Data regardless of what I do. I am certain the probe and kit are fine. There just has to be something on my pc or the drive itself which is causing the problem.

Thankyou in advance for any help! This has been very frustrating.

You can use Sata.

I only have the CK3 lite myself and I just dumped my firmware over SATA but I have a v9 so obviously the probe 2 was required.

how did you put the drive in half-tray mode?  best way is to just eject it, power off, push it in, then power back on.  also try adjusting where your "half tray" position is.  ive had some drives that were pickier than others.

all half open is, is not all the way open or all the way closed.  other than not all the way open or all the way closed, there is no magic sweet spot.

Ya I've tried lots of different half open placements.
I've tried use the ck3 to get it in vendor mode. I.e.
Power on, eject open, I then press the eject button once more,
While the tray is closing I then turn off the ck3. Powe on, tray stays half open.
I've also tried Power on ck3, eject, power off ck3, slide half way manually,
Power on ck3.
These both work, as in JF detects my drive.
However, I still receive the bad data error.

what probe are you using?

Have you pushed the button on the end of the probe itself to turn it "on"?

I can try to help you out. I just flashed a virgin 7 over the weekend. I used a spare xbox to flash it. Along with a home built probe plugged into a usb to serial adapter. I know for a fact that the via card isn't needed on most computers though. Doubtful if that would be your problem though. I don't use one and use one of my 3 computer onboard intel chipsets. So if it was I couldn't help you there if it really was.

What windows are you running? As on my rig I am not sure what com port 1 is right of my head but isn't the serial port. As I don't have one the reason for the adapter. So you may be using the wrong port. Along with how exactly are you trying to pull the info?

How I flashed the 7 series was open jungle flasher after setting up the port driver for windows 7 64bit. Made sure it found the drive.

Pressed the eject button on the spare xbox it was plugged to. Once opened I unplugged the power from the drive. Pushed the drive in till the L shap raised little plastic thing. Which is on the bottom of the tray half way in between closed and open. Then plugged the power back into the drive. Picked com port3 since it was the one for my serial cable. Then just put the probe on the board. Hit the button and away it went pulling the files.

The only problem it gave me was about some files missing for the dummy bin. So I had to rebuild it with the number off the drive and inside. Didn't have to do that to the other 7 series I did the same day though.

Edit: Also jungleflasher should detect the drive before you even open it and do the half tray method. Unless I mis-understood what you were saying. Another dumb ? might be are you picking up your computer drive in jungleflasher instead of the 360's? As my lite-on in my computer shows up also almost the exact same info. So I unplug it before booting when flashing so it is on less thing I have to go down threw looking for the 360 drive.
