Another Hitachi Question
« on: November 21, 2010, 06:18:00 AM »

Hello,

I have an old liteon console. The liteon crapped out so I replaced it with an old Hitachi I had (46/47 model). Anyway it has been working great playing anything I put in it. I should also mention this console does not go online. It is strictly for offline play. Well after doing some reading (apparently not enough reading) I came to the conclusion it was safe to update to the new dash and I did so via usb and the firmware provided on the official site. Now I'm stuck because it won't play Fable 3 but will play other older backups. I would've just left the console be, but wanted it to be updated for Kinect around Christmas time for my kids. So here are my few questions: can I revert back to the original Hitachi firmware, reflash, and leave it as a Hitachi drive and play it in the console (possibly using liteon drive key)? From my understanding lt+ won't be an option because it is a Hitachi. What are my best options here? I know this is a fairly new subject, but it is really bugging me. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Fix or replace your lite-on with another lite-on. There is no other solution.

I do still have the liteon but it was hit or miss with reading discs which is why I replaced it (it worked great for awhile). I've seen some articles about the pot adjustment. How hard/reliable is this to do, and where can I find the best tutorial on it?

Thanks again for your help!

The pot adjust is a waste of time. If the pot needs adjusting it is because the pickup in the laser is losing sensitivity. Just get a new laser. I have several in stock if you want one PM me.
