QUOTE(sk93 @ Nov 22 2010, 05:33 PM) *

I've read through all of this, and, if I'm honest, I understand very little lol.
I realise I have to wait for LT+ to arrive before playing games such as Fable III etc.

However, I do have a coupla quick(ish) questions I really would appreciate being answered.

A) Along with Fable III & Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, which other games should I be avoiding?

B ) Can I safely install the Kinect dashboard update NOW, as long as I don't and haven't played any of the games listed in the answer to "A"?

C) If so, do I need to remove the hacked firmware from my drive and stick the original back in place BEFORE applying the upgrade?

D) And finally, If yes to the above, is it just a case of re-applying the same hacked firmware once the upgrade has been installed, or can I not use any hacked firmware again until LT+ is released?
Here's the answer to the predictable questions I suspect you'll be asking of me:

1) I have a Old-style elite with a LiteOn drive that could be dumped / flashed directly from my pc, without the need for that usb thingy.

2) It is running either iXtreme 1.61 or LT 1.1 - I'm not 100% sure, as all of my notes on what I did are at home.

3) I have NOT updated my console with the latest system update (the Kinect Dash update I believe).

4) I have NOT played Fable III or Assassins Creed: Brotherhood yet on that console.
Thankyou in advance (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

A) Other than those, just need for speed: hot pursuit

B ) yes, even if you have played them. fable 3 was safe on old dash. just dont play any of those 3 ap2.5 games and you *should* be fine

C) No, just update

D) N/A

Note, this assumes you have LT though. not sure if 1.61 is really that safe.

QUOTE(Buzzcut @ Nov 22 2010, 11:54 AM) *

You're missing aswilbourn's point, we know there's a new 0800 coming out.

c4e said the AP2.5 check will be caught "anyway".  If this is the case then surely you don't NEED SSV3 so why can't you just use the present 0800 to rip discs?

Maybe the old 0800 will be fine for offline to just fool the dash when LT+ hits but maybe the non SSV3 disc won't give the correct responses back to XBL...

QUOTE(aswilbourn @ Nov 22 2010, 11:59 AM) *

Exactly! From what I can make of it it looks like 0800 firmware is being released to allow us to make SSV3 rips but that it may not be necessary as the LT+ firmware prevents violations being logged. Just wanted some clarification on the issue.

Ahh! Buzzcut you just edited as I was posted...you may be right on the current 0800 fooling the system on an offline xbox but not safe for one on live....suppose we will just have to wait and see.

You guys just hit that peverbial ( nice spelling I know ) nail right on the head  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

1) You should also avoid Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

2) Yes, you can safely update to kinect if you really want to, provided you steer clear from those games. But you should also be aware that there's is a tested and working exploit to install the Kinect beta without AP2.5 protection and play any game, no flag, if and only if you still are on the old dash.

3-4) No, you dont need to return to stock, nor you need to when you'll flash LT+

Thank you for the answers guys - very much appreciated (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

In regards to Fable III - Just to be 100% sure of what you're saying above, I CAN play this on the OLD dash without risk (well, no more risk than any other "older" game)?

And in regards to the Kinect Beta - could you be so kind as to point me to a tut / thread on the subject (assuming I don't need JTAG?)

(all above is assuming i'm on LT, not 1.61 - If i'm on 1.61, I'll continue to wait and not play Fable (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif))

Thanks again!

Fable 3 can safely be played on old dash cause old dash doesnt trigger AP2.5 (since it doesnt have it).

No, you dont need a JTag. Actually it's an ordered sequence of 3 updates to the kinect dash from the Kinect games. So it's safe, and it results in installing kinect with no AP2.5

Here's how (dont know if I can post it in this thread though):

Remember this method only works if you have not updated to the kinect dashboard, but still have the old one (9199) or earlier.

If you have a dash earlier than the 9199, update to the 9199 using THIS update

1-Install update Kinect adventure. Unzip the file UPDATE-KINECT-ADVENTURES.rar, place it on a pendrive formatted in FAT32, place it on the console and turn on.
The new dashboard will be the 2.0.12413.0

2-Delete the folder from the pendrive, and unzip the second file UPDATE-KINECT-ANIMALS.rar

3-Install update Kinect animals, in the same way as above.
The new dashboard will be the 2.0.12416.0

4. Install the this kinect update (it's the update from Assassin's Creed Brotherhood)

And that's it. You can play to any game, old or new, AP2.5 and not.
And XVal still clean!

I keep hearing over and over that this works and i do belive it. So why is this not a front page news story on xbox-scene? I find it amazing that microsoft could make such a error. LOL

LOL I swear I do not know!
It does work 100% and surely sooner or later MS will release a mandatory dash upgrade, but till then, this is the way to go. Just to get covered till LT+. And I'll keep it even after LT+ will be flashed in my console, and up untill SS3 will be available.
I guess MS is eating his own liver. Such a fuss to unleash AP2.5 secret weapon, and there they let an exploit to bypass it.
And I dont know why it's not on Xbox-scene front page. Each time I talked about it here, even when it was not even a news yet, it got snobbed.
And still is, in spite of the fact it's now world widely tested (everywhere else but on xbox-scene).

Hey everyone!
I had almost the same questions as sk93 but with a little change. I have the fat box with the liteon that needs the usb extractor thing. It was flashed to 1.61 for about a year ago, then I flashed it myself to LT 1.1 because 1.61 supported to just plug it into my VIA card. Now my question is if there is any possibility to just plug in the drive to my VIA card and update the firm to LT+ from LT 1.1? I'm not sure if LT 1.1 support that. If not i'm really sad :-(.

I replaced my stock liteon with a benq for ease of flashing. Worked fine with LT - should work with LT+ still, right?

Unfortunately Tiko maybe right .... as the checks are have something to do with the original harware in the machine .... and reports that back to the console and either flags .. or boots ... All we can do for sure is wait till LT+ comes out and I'm sure there will be detailed instructions on flashing ... what drives are supported ... and on and on .. there seems to be alot of questions on this firmware that hasn't even seen the light of day yet ??

But then again .... both Lite-on and BenQ can perform ap25 checks ... soooo maybe in that case ... but not in the case of swapping out a new drive for an older one ?? But we will just have to wait and see (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

The best way to get it on front page is to make a new thread, think of a really clever but short title for the thread and the instructions you already gave are perfect. Unless there is already a dedicated thread about this.

I am thinking of trying this on a x360 slim that i installed a original lite-on board inside. I sold it to a friend but i might get him to bring it over, serously if this works on a slim with a lo board swap i will be very impressed!

no one knows what microsoft has something up it's sleeve with thi AP2.5, assumptions mean nothing. i'm sure there has been a multitude of comsoles flagged for later and alot banned now. the new LT+ will not hide everything and people will still get banned and flagged. i'm sure there will be a alot of people moaning soon enough......................sudeki300
