Well my lite-on 83850c was dying so i purchased a new replacement drive. I hooked the dying liteon up to the computer and opened jungle flasher, for some reason the DVD key is missing in the drive properties and I dont have it backed up anywhere. The drive was previously flashed with ixtreme lt 1.1. I however was not the person who modded this system. Basically im just hoping you guys can elaborate a little and tell me there is a way to recover it and that im not F'd.  I can provide more detailed info if needed. Also, I snapped a few screenshots in JF, links are below. Hopefully they help some. Thanks.

just out of curiosity, are you sure you can dump your drive key purely through software like that?

there were 2 versions of the liteon 8xxx drives, where the earlier ones could be dumped exactly the way you are attempting to, while the later ones required a full firmware dump using the mra method. if you look at the circuit board on the bottom of the drive, are there cuts/solder on it?

Honestly, no im not for sure. This is my first attempt at a drive replacement. The reason I inititally went into jungle flasher was just to get the dvd key for the drive, but its no where to be found. The bad drive is a 83850c V1, the replacement i received was a liteon 74850c.  Im going to look up this mra method and see what its about

Are you sure its a v1 and not a v2. There is a lo86 command in jungle flasher see if that can get the key. I think its under the dvdkey32 tab. Or you can take the drive apart and see if there was work done to it you will know if it has cause traces would have been cut and the repaired

I guess im not for sure whether its a v1 or 2. The lo86 command fails for me in jf after full open tray. the drive hasnt had any work done to it other that flashing it from stock to lt 1.1

I thought once a drive had LT on it you can`t retreive the key from it unless you do the MRA hack. Correct me if im wrong.

you can retrieve the key exactly the same as if it had the stock firmware. if it was a 8xxx v2, or a 9xxx drive, then you are correct that it is mra only. if it is an 8xxx v1 or a 7xxx, you can do mra, or (probe for 7xxx, jungleflasher for 8xxx v1)

reading the firmware from the v2 would require traces to be cut then repaired.

I am also having the same problem with my liteon 83850c v1 drive i have had no problems flashing xbox drives ever. but i had my computer hd crash on me and i lost my original FW for my drive. i was told that i could not use JF to extract my keys again because you could not re extract the keys off a 83850c V1 drive after it has been flashed with LT CFW. But would buying a Xecuter LT Clip and LT Switch v2 solve my problems because I would like to update my liteon when LT+ CFW is released any help i thank you guys

that hardware would help you do the mra method, but whoever told you that you can't dump the key via software a second time has no idea what they are talking about. if you have the lt firmware on there, your key extraction options are exactly the same as they were with the stock firmware. if you do in fact have a v1, you can dump the key with jungle flasher, without additional hardware. (and after that, flash the upgraded lt+ cfw)

OK kool I'm going to give it another go and post my results thank you reaper for the info  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Im going to try and install LT 1.2 because i still have LT 1.1

sorry, but you don't know what you are talking. LT flashed liteons (ALL) dumping is only using MRA. So don't misleed other people when you don't know what you are talking.

But yes, serial extraction and Dummy option have gone since LT, I hope whoever flashed your drive still has the key or you're going to have to get your soldering iron out.  He should really update it for free if he didn't mail you your firmware he extracted.

Surely it is one rule for all, rather than one rule for normal members and a different one for moderators (who may or may not have a God complex).
