Question About Changed Drives
« on: November 15, 2010, 09:39:00 AM »

hi. i've bought my xbox falcon with lite-on drive replaced by samsung spoofed as lite-on. now i don't have original dummy.bin but i do have a dump of samsung fw with i believe only dvdkey and iquiry (identify string contains "STTSocprVD-DOR MSTH-49A3" so i think its not from lite-on fw; drive serial string is blank) and i want to replace this sammy drive back with lite-on and the question is will this data (dvdkey and inquiry) be enough to match xbox with this drive?

my xbox is banned so i don't care about that, all i care about is osig match and all other ap25 checks when lt+ comes out.

All you should need is the key.

ok, if i understand you correctly, i should make dummy.bin from my new lite-on to get inquiry, identify and drive serial strings, and then combine it with the dvdkey from sammy to get new firmware?

you can leave them all blank..it will warn there is no serial data etc and for you to rebuild them with stickers..dont bother, a large majority of liteons come with no serial data at all. there is also no specific logic to the ones that have data and ones that dont. its totaly random so its not something that M$ will check for..just extract the key from the samsung and open the matching LT firmware for your liteon drive and insert the key then flash to the liteon..

There is some logic to it actually. All of the drives that were reflashed by microsoft have no serial data. You can tell a drive has been reflashed if there is a new fw version sticker over the old version sticker.

Your advice is 100% what i would be doing if i was in this situation too.

okay, thanks for all your help.

got one last question. samsung was spoofed as lite-on 7845, so my guess the original was 7845, but is there any way to know for sure? maybe manufacturing date of xbox (its 2008-07-22) or something else?
