Replacing Dvd Drives Now In Days?
« on: November 14, 2010, 02:51:00 PM »

Hello Everyone,
I can only seem to find older posts in this subject, which not helpful since Microsoft has become stricter, so i need a recent up to date reply.

This is what I have:
non-modified 360 with messed up Hitachi 0047DJ
Spare Samsung MS28 drive (currently flashed with ixtreme, but will flash back to original firmware)

What I need to know:
Before i manage to swap drives, flash and spoof to play games, I need this 360 for XBOX LIVE.  Is there any
risks of getting banned for doing this process? and if so, PROVE IT
or does this mean that I have no option  but to buy the exact same drive?

I need MULTIPLE people to share their experience in this subject,
Thankx in advance.

It is always safest to replace the drive with the same model. Any Hitachi drive will work since all you need to do is swap the circuit board from the bad drive to the new drive saving you form having to do any flashing.

Or if it is just the laser you can just take the laser out of the samsung and stick it into the hitachi since they are both the same.

As for whether or not it is safe with the new ap2.5 checks built into the new dashboard I guess that is something you will have to ind out for yourself. That way you can PROVE IT to nobody but yourself.

If you would be keeping up with the scene you would know that it would not be safe for live. NO MATTER WHAT YOU TRY. They can detect spoofs, but like the above post says no one needs to prove anything. Do it yourself an let us know how that goes. Else do more research.

Spoofing drives on Live has been around for years and it's been shown many many times to give you a ban.  Do some more searching and you'll see the same.   I've got no PROOF but I've read enough to know it's not safe.

Are you talking about flashing stock firmware and spoofing to play originals or using hacked firmware on your Samsung to play *ahem* your own backups?

I'm aware that spoofing has been around for awhile, just looking RECENT feedback on this topic for STATISTICAL purposes.

This 360 is needed for LIVE,  so i don't want it for backups, but for now it will be used for the alternative XkaiLink etc.

I have replaced many 360 dvd drives with benq's and have never heard of anyone getting banned from it.  It's quite possible some people have and never told me but I have done 30+ spoofs and haven't heard of anyone getting banned.  Not to sure if the new dashboard has different security checks now.  I've also encountered xbox 360's that went in for repair and had lite-on drives in them even though the manufacture date was 2006 on the 360.

The latest dash is very strict on OSIG so spoofing is totally out.

The bottom line is that NO ONE is going to tell you it's 100% safe so you take your chances like anyone else....

I'm fairly sure that C4eva said that realtime fw checks are done on slim only.

There for if you spoof with an older box you should be safe.
Just don't do it on slim.

slim has new/different checks built in.

read his quotes.

quote 117 :

[2010-11-13 03:36PM] <c4eva> ********:new dash at some point checks slim drive fw, once it has spoof will cease to work

quote 163 - 164:

[2010-11-14 04:19PM] <***> for slim what kind of real time checks are we talking about?
[2010-11-14 04:19PM] <c4eva> ***:realtime fw check,realtime ram check!

I'm beginning to agree with this...afaik a spoofed OSIG is the same as an original unless another check is done i.e. the slim realtime FW checks.

Only time will tell I guess.

I have an MS25 that I somehow botched updating to LT the other day (from 1.61) so I took the MS28 (also 1.61) out of my spare RRoD 360 and spoofed it to LT MS25. Is that safe or no? does the OSIG get that in depth with it or because its still a TS-H943 just different firmware revision?

No problem, even though all the information was correct. I wont answer anymore of your questions, I will however enjoy reading your "I spoofed, why did I banned?" post very soon.

According to these posts from last Nov (no idea if it's true, just passing on info) they were banned for ONLY spoofing drives, no hacked firmware at all.

I wouldn't say spoofing is "safe" in any situation, even on old consoles.
