guys i have a question?can i flag myself to getting banned if i update to new dashboard update even though all the games i have are all RETAIL games(original) will i still be putting myself in a risk of getting banned?

Using modded firmware there is always some chance you may be flagged or banned if you go online. No one knows 100% if any modded firmware is 100% safe.

i mostly asked that because apparently that's the only thing stopping a AP2.5 game like Fable 3 from booting on the new BETA dashboards with a SAMSUNG XBox360 is that SSv3 stuff apparently since he said AP2.5 does not effect Samsungs which means you would think Firmware wise that current LT 1.0 on Samsungs is already good.... but since it's already known that Fable3 WONT BOOT backups on Samsung 360's (with new dashboard) that must mean it's solely a SSv3 thing.

So if you're using Xtreme 5.3 on a Samsung ms28 (already banned box), Fable 3 should theoretically boot up just fine on the new dash as 5.3 launches games regardless (none of the recent checks are implemented in it), right?

Playing RETAIL games seems to be fine but you are always putting yourself at risk when using custom firmware.

No answer for me sad.gif??

I don't know about for retail games but you are already screwed for using iXtreme 1.61... there is no such thing as "iXtreme 1.61 lt" by the way... That fw is what caused last years banns so you probably have been flagged for a long time.

can someone comfirm this that i found posted in other thread???

http://forums.xbox-s...o...3030&st=30#

i asked this...
QUOTE(elcappo @ Nov 1 2010, 05:40 PM) *

we are all already confirmed that 46 and 47 hitachis dont have ap 2.5 but since i readed some cases of ppl with hitachi 78 that claimed they are playing fable 3 after update... then...
can someone confirms if hitachi 59dj have AP 2.5 or not? (cause 59dj is older than 78)

then... boxmania posted this...
QUOTE(boxamania @ Nov 1 2010, 05:55 PM) *
I have an unbanned system with hitachi 59 drive. Xval reported clean secdata before dash update. updated to kinect dash. Backup up Fable 3 loads fine with ssv2. Also loaded a backup of fallout New Vegas which I ripped that is ssv1. Fallout loads fine. Checked secdata after loading both games. Secdata is clean. So I'm assuming Hitachi 59 with Ixtreme 1.51 firmware doesn't have AP2.5.

Then ACCORDING TO THIS... HITACHI 59DJ DONT HAVE AP 2.5? IM RIGHT?
THX IN ADVANCE...

I'm sure Ap25 can be activated by MS over Live. If you played a ap25 game or not.

I updated to new dash. Have banned 1.61. Games give dirty disc errors. The activate disk works, but wont boot games afterwards. No go on wave 3 patched games ether. Tried rock band 3, fallout new vegas, dead rising 2, borderlands. My retail disks work fine though.

good question. i don't know off the top of my head but my Samsung XBox360 is NOT banned right now and the 'secdata clean' so i am not flagged either. (for the record... i have not been on XBox Live since at least 2 weeks prior to Forza3's official release date)

i am running LT v1.0 (which is the newest for Samsungs) on it right now.

which is why i asked what i asked about the whole SSv3 stuff as from what i understand that seems to be the only plausible explanation as to why Fable3 won't load once you load up newest dashboard since according to c4eva it does not do AP2.5 checks.

p.s. but if i had to take a guess on Xtreme 5.3 on a Samsung... i am guessing you would be flagged for a ban using that as i suspect newer games like fable 3 on newest dashboard will be able to detect Xtreme 5.3 etc. overall i don't know enough to make a educated guess on this one. but if i had to guess i would suspect it will be stopped with newest dashboard on games like Fable3 that use SSv3 and AP2.5.

OK! Already we're seeing the duplicate/silly/lazy questions so I will draft an FYI/NFO to be pinned (pls feel free to critcise or point out error/add to etc..)

If you don't play online then currently NONE OF THIS WILL AFFECT YOU! or YOUR ABILITY TO PLAY BACKUPS.

Can I play Fable 3 without Kinect??:
 YES!!
Currently this only stops you (booting fable3 backup) if you have the kinect dash update(so that means u can play ur backup on 9199,8955 or JTAG what ever with whatever FW!!)
 - as it would have been silly for M$ to release a game that would only play on an unreleased dash)

WILL THIS CHANGE IN THE FUTURE WHEN M$ MAKE US UPDATE ?? More Than likely!! (At best ur new game with AP2.5 won't boot without kinect dash update or greater thus forcing the new checks on ur system)

Untill LT+ is released you won't be able to play backups made in the last year or so with peace-of-mind (Unless we find a definative way to identify AP2.5 .xex's)

My XVAL is clean does this mean I'm not banned?? : Yes you are currently not banned THIS DOESN"T neccesarily MEAN THAT YOU HAVEN"T BEEN FLAGGED TO BE BANNED ON THE NEXT BAN-WAVE in (probably in late Nov)

And now to (try to) answer a question from someone who tried to answer it first by reading ...

QUOTE(VampireKillerX @ Nov 2 2010, 03:29 AM) *

I read the thread from the start and i didn't find an answer to this.

If I don't mind Live (or being flagged/banned) but I update the dash in order to play kinect games, is it  technically possible to patch games to be playable with my old firmware.

I now such software may not exist now, all I'm asking is if it's posible to force the boot of these games.(at the expense of modifying the disc structure, I know, but many of us don't care about live).

Thanks, sorry for all the noob questions, but I guess you learn little by little.

Currently this would work fine (but you will only have problems if ur on kinect dash anyway) In the future when m$ force upd ala new wave(X)
Then this method probably wont as the checks are being done by the executable and the game will most  likely won't boot from dash earlier than kinect (as they have done in the past - makes u think ... maybe they've been doing it silently for a while.. )

QUOTE(animere @ Nov 2 2010, 12:45 AM) *

So is it ok to update if you have a retail version of Fable 3 and liteon LT? Cuz what I'm understanding is that ap2.5 checks only fail on burnt games

Yes (as far as we know)

By my best guess and understanding/Dan

You guys are funny.  You want a definitive way to find out if ap2.5 is on the game disc, boot it on the new dash.  Yes I know individuals don't want to risk their boxes, but I don't think it's going to take much rocket science to find out if it has ap2.5 built in or not.  Also, they can't "push" nothing over live thats going to update older titles that didn't come with 2.5 on them.  If it's the "disc" that's talking back and its not rewritable, its never going to respond to the new dash's checks.  If that was the case then all they would of needed to do is a dash update.. les a le bon ton roulet

Does you blackops disc ask to update to kinect dash??? (I'm assuming ur on 9199 JTAG) I would like to know if it has the new update .... If it isn't then try re-copying (make sure you have enough disc space etc.. and disc has had time to spin-up before begining HDD backup) BTW I hope ur trying 2 rip from an orig!!

Sorry but that's not a certain way of checking!!AP2.5 was found on discs over a year ago. I suspect that Fable3 is an anomoly in that it simply doesn't boot from the updated dash (Probably something to do with the game studio wanting the new chex implemented and protecting their IP, but wanting it to meet a release date. <Remeber kinect dash upd was pushed back a couple of times> Fable 3 was orignally going to have kinect features but were removed last minute... (this is more than likely a slip-up we have been lucky to catch on to as I have yet to hear of a game being released that cannot be played on older <unmodded> 360's)

As we understand it ... The AP2.5 checks are either: Being activated by the .xex and polling a new phisical disc security feature OR They're simply giving the drive new challenges from the xex that the(current) FW either cannot anticipate and/or cannot read. Ppl are using the term SSv3 but I'm not sure how that would work on older consoles in tandem w/ existing chex .. Unless it was a seperate feature in which case I think it should just be reffered to as AP2.5 phisical feature (or something like it) AP2.5PF (As yet unkown and unidentified ..) I'm sure C4E and a couple of others (who have the brains and means) have figured it out

I don't think anyone has suggested that they would 'push' an update onto a RW drive or anything remotely like it. Perhaps you should try to read/understand more carefully before jumping in.... Any help is still appreciated. If anyone has orig Fable3 and knows how to sight the ss with naked eye (and/or help of optics of some description) could they perhaps look to see if there are any obvious anomolies/differences from older discs.. You never know it may be that simple
