That is exactly what I am saying. I actually had it this way on the old dash "9199" before I updated. So far so good, able to play backups and originals. Tried fable 3 but I think it's a bad disk (memorex, getting more verbatims in today) and my xval is clean still.

Just trying to save people some time, as its useless information ( in reguards to sammy and hitachi ) because its now officially fact and its not helping anyone. You can save people the trouble of worry with those drives and move on.

Sammys do not support ap25, you wont get ap25 error ever.

can anyone that updated to last FINAL KINECT DASH via USB PENDRIVE confirm if after the update, they still can access to his PENDRIVE or USB DRIVE (NON MS or HOMOLOGATED) an can read folders or mp3 music etc?
Cause 1 person in this forum insist in he cant! And i want to see if is an isolated case!

I found the real truth and answer in another Euorpean forum that already received the Kinect dash two weeks ago before the US officially received at its final non-beta level: 12611.

They too were evaluating this new Kinect dash at earlier levels prior to 12611 (beta Kinect dash) and its apparently very sensitive to the presence of any "non-MICROSOFT" USB key or thumbstick in the consoles USB ports during the kernel upgrade process. It actually slows it down too considerably.

This is EXACTLY why that fellow at top of page: REDNAS was getting E71 after flashing and testing with the Kinect kernel was updated; and his E71 went away ONLY after he immediately removed the offending USB stick. He was very lucky it didn't go RROD. This new kernel is very sensitive to certain types of USB sticks.

Same exact thing happened to me BTW, however after I removed the Kingston 4GB USB stick my Xbox booted to the new dash just fine, games boot fine too. Avatars work, video playback works and media center launches.

Hopefully this means there's a possible exploit :-D


UPDATE: did a little searching and apparently if you delete the default.xex in the root of the USB it will update without giving any error afterwards (it's not supposed to be there anyways, you only need the files in $SystemUpdate), apparently the xbox tries to run the default.xex at boot for some reason. Not sure how that affected my update though, hopefully it didn't.

At M$ support website where you download the last SYSTEM UPDATE, are 2 files, 1 for USB STICK (just with systemupdate folder in it) and 1 to be burned on a CD (that have the default.xex and systemupdate folder)
Some ppl downloaded the file to use with CD and no with USB STICK, thats cause someones GOT E71 when update via USB Stick if they didnt delete the default.xex file.
Some ppl, need to learn to read carefully before make a mouse click!

As of right now the update is not available for download from MS's website. I guess I'll just have to wait for the next update (probably soon because of the bug that was discovered in this one) and try to update it properly, hopefully this will clear up any issues that might be hidden right now in this botched update.

The update (inc Avatars) is like 100mb, my xbox finished updating and rebooted in literally 10-15 secs before giving me the E71 error, i'm not sure what I'm missing but almost definitely not all the update went through.

Thankfully everything seems to work just fine for now.

Well, I paid someone to get my jasper arcade 360 modded. I'm assuming I have the latest LT firmware that was released. I can't quite determine what DVD drive I have, although I think it is a Lite-On. Is there any updated images that label the DVD drive types for newer 360's? Regardless, I updated my xbox to the new dashboard on Monday. Since then I've played NBA 2k11 backup and Halo Reach retail. Xval reports that my secdata is clean as of Tuesday. I'm going to check it again today. I played Fable 3 before the dashboard update. It worked, although seemed to be laggy. I did not play after the update. A friend DID and when he gave me his xval info, he was flagged.

Now, unless i discover I'm flagged today, I'm going to continue playing the same games... I'd like to try some more of my backups that I want to play like Madden 2011 and Dead rising 2. My assumption is that if a game like NBA 2k11 works fine then older games should also be ok, but naturally I'm totally unsure of that. My system is ALWAYS online btw. Crossing fingers that I get no bad news in the next few weeks as I'm being somewhat careful with what games I play despite playing online. But in the meantime I am with olding my urge to get newer backups... and just wait till new LT firmware is released and it is "safe."

Not sure if that was informative for anyone, I'm not a noob, but I'm not well versed with all of this so if anyone wants to give any feed back I'd appreciate it just to expand my knowledge with all of this stuff. Thanks.
