My Falcon flashed with BenQ--LT 1.1 back on (03.02.1010) just took the new Kinect dash yesterday (11.01.2010) and I then subsequently played COD-MW2 on-line succesfully for several hours (the game is a pure rip I personally took with a BenQ-ix1.6--0800 firmware and not that Kreon crap).,,no BAN was observed. But RROD immediately followed 24 hours later on this Falcon.
This evening about 24 hours later (Nov.02.2010) this very stable Falcon is triggering the RROD-3 lights. I have not seen this in over 1 year on this console when I last repaird it myself with my hot air station.
I think this qualifies as a new observation about this Kinect dash udpate and the possibility of sensitivity integrity checks its deploying.
I also must report this Falcon is a former RROD which I replaced the X-clamp 18 months ago and its been running flawlessly ever since and its has taken flawlessly the 8599 and 9199 kernels; Its never been JTAG'd
This is all too coincidental that it finally died alomst immediately after taking the new Kinect dash in less than 24 hours.
I suspect that during the reflashing of the NAND some firmware checksum or integrity check failed and this is no coincidence; Perhaps its checking DVD firmware to specifically log the presence of LT 1.1 in these BenQs, and in some old these consoles (like the Falcons that were previosly X-clamp repaired) it trigger an accidental firmeware corruption error that is displayed as a RROD. Thus suggesting its an unintended side effect that the engineers at XBOX Live did not anticipate. This all speculation, so I need to see if others are getting RROD after Kinetc dahs is taken,
This weekend I will replace X-clamp again, new studs, new Artic Silver compound and reflow the Hana chip, but I would not get my hopes up. This new Kinect dash is not going to be an easy pill to swallow on some of these previosly repaired X-clamp modified Falcons is my humble opinion. I think I have read this happening before to others after kernel updates in rare situations. I was not surprised it finally went back to RROD.
Anyone else go RROD after taking the new Kinect dash with their previosly X-clamp repaired Falcons?
Also for the record,
Falcons have a failry high success rate after the RROD repair; They are much more durable then the Xenons and Xephyrs, so this is a very coincidental RROD failure.
Any suggestions on elmminating my Falcon RROD, short of actually removing the X-clamp, new heat sink studs, new artic silver, and reflowing the Hanah chip behind the GPU?
Something about this new Kinect dash seems to be making my formerly stable Falcon more senstive to RROD that is for sure.
