its backup copies (Law permits this) and everyone downloads mp3s and tv shows anyway so the hypocrisy, double standards and political correctness is annoying

I can guarantee it does not have anything to do with whether it is a leaked version or not. I am not running a retail machine at all i don't have a "leaked" dashboard. And mine is comparable to the current one in question. And it still wouldn't run for me, with it just resigned like normal.
 
 I just built and resigned a GOD package and it runs fine that way..Can't explain why but when i run it off an external drive with it resigned it throws me to a black screen no error except in the debugger. So it seems whatever it is checking must be in the dashboard, but it has to be somehow also implemented in the game xex because this is the only game that has caused a problem, and whatever it is does not get checked when it is a GOD. My rip is also from a clean retail copy i made myself so it isn't from a "scene" release.  

 I would think that this may be able to be implemented in other game Xexs through a TU but i could be wrong about that. But if you see a big crop of TUs come out right when the new dash is released i would say their is a good chance that they are implementing something new. We will know more when some more games get released and if we have more problems with them.  But it still from my personal experience could not be FW related as my system doesn't use modified FW.

I don't approve piracy, but I do approve the right to make backups of your legally owned games. Now, trying to figure this out, I'll put this question here:

The people who can't boot theirs backups, are they changing the booktype to DVD-ROM before burning theirs discs, or are they using the one by default (DVD+R)?

If this is true and the new dashboard has a new check protection, maybe it's checking from what kind of disc the game is trying to boot...

 This should merge my 2 posts....It is not from it being a burned copy...I just disproved that. I don't use a Jtagged system..or retail. Mine runs in a GOD but not off an external drive resigned. I am not going to share what flash version i am running but it is high enough to compare to the current Beta retail dash. I can go down to an older flash and see if it will run off the HDD that would give me confirmation that it has to do with the dash...but As i already stated it has to also be something in the Xex for it to only be 1 game so far with this issue....I will report back after trying it on my external drive with an older dash.

on the logic sunrise link above some of the comments are saying it might be something to do with Avatar items because Sims another game also fails to boot up and both games have something to do with new avatar items

hoping its actually a smaller bug issue like that instead of new checks etc

Nice try, but LT firmware reports DVD-ROM whether it's true or not.

Once all the facts come out on this, I think some people will feel pretty silly for hitting the panic switch.

 No dude did you not read my post...This is definitely something in software...I don't run a retail machine with any kind of modified firmware I have an Xedk and it freezes unless i have it in a GOD package. I can't downgrade without formatting my drive unfortunately and i have to much important stuff on my drive to get rid of it right now, but we do need to sit back a little bit and wait for more games to come out.  Whatever the check is doesn't get checked in a GOD that's all i can tell so far.

 This game has been released in the U.S Saint that's why i have a retail copy now this isn't about piracy at all. I just can't run retail discs or burned retail discs with Security sectors and all that on them so i put it on my external like i do all my games...if i run Xbwatson it throws an exception and reboots the machine.

The symptoms aren't consistent, so the "facts" are all over the map.  Somebody with Xedk dev box has one issue, somebody else says I can't boot the disc, still someone else says it freezes after 15 minutes but so do two of his retail games.  One guy says I have no issues at all, still someone else says it eventually boots but just takes a long time.  Some people are saying it's an avatar thing, others are reporting similar issues running another older title now.  And I have yet to see one person mention whether or not they have the Fable III TU in place, which would be the first step in my testing methodology.  This is like a master class on how not to troubleshoot.

 I didn't even know their was already a TU...maybe their is a bug then in that case. Since some people are having issues with burned retail copies it could have something to do with the allowed media type.

 I don't think we will have any real idea until we have more new games to try out. The exception i got could just be from a bug i suppose i had an issue with New Vegas also which did not get resolved after the TU was released.  I still don't think this should be front page news when it's full of speculation. I haven't gotten to do much testing and i don't have a retail machine to test it on so I can't provide much more help than to say it runs fine in a GOD but not in just a game folder on my HDD, and it is the only game i have ever had an issue with.

I don't think they would release an update that lets you boot DVD+R DL copies of the game. The retail game works, with or without the update, a backup does not. It's new protection - no need to speculate on that. Someone that has a non-hacked system could take their retail disc and rip and try to run it and see if you get the "put this in a 360" error, or if you get the "unreadable disc" error.

And LOL at people who don't know how to read  . I never said that people don't know how to burn their discs, I was trying to find out if the booktype is a variable we should consider now for our backups. I thought that LT doesn't have implemented the report to DVD-ROM from any kind of booktype.

In a different matter, the TU, from what I've read, only adds/fixes the Co-Op in the game and nothing else.
