Could it be that the new dash is only able to see if it's a burned game or retail if it is a certain drive?

If some people are saying it's not working, but some are, then maybe MS is only able to foil certain drives?

I find this hard to believe since every time a new games gets released it is followed by countless people complaining about glitches, disk read errors and "it says Play DVD" and then again that never happens to me and a large majority of others.

That's true, but a lot of that is probably down to bad burns on cheap discs. This is the first time I've seen reports of new protection in the dashboard because a game won't boot. There's too many people talking about this for it to be the usual reasons. I have never seen mass reports of a game being read by the 360, installing in full, but then throwing up "This disc is unreadable" on boot either. It's fair enough to not believe rumours, but there is also too much evidence out there to write this off as a few n00bs not knowing how to burn a disc.

I updated to 2.0.12581.0 and can play any of my backups that I have tried on my benq 1.61, but one. I tried Fable 2 and it wont load my save. It just sits at the loading screen and will never complete the load. Seems strange that the Fable games are affected and not any others. I am going to wait until abgx verifies fable 3 to burn.

Also another point of interest I went to xboxmodder to get any updates needed and noticed if you search for Fable there is a title update already for Fable 3.

From what ive read, and correct me if im wrong because i havent read into this nearly enough as most. But people are getting disc errors for a game that is not officially released yet, on a dash beta that is also not officially released yet?...

Can we take this as anymore than just news on buggy software? Smells like crap to me.

But who knows, even crap is suprising sometimes.

I think ill wait for C4E or similar to confirm before i decide what to do.
With JB team releasing 3.50 update for PS3 soon (allegedly!) i can just see people swapping consoles if this really is going to happen.
Im also wondering if this relates to older drives like Hitachi,which have not maintained regular cfw for quite some time now.Afterall,we already know from last years crazy hammer session that all old firmware was now not to be trusted,why LT took so long to be finalised.
Could it be a trap torrent from M$ (does that stuff REALLY happen though?)
Cause lets face it,for the time its been out not everyone here has ran home from acme game shop,immediately backed up legal retail of said game etc,etc.

I cant see this incresing the Jtag market though tbh,most people want online and backups,not just backups alone and 90% of the backup population (?!) dont even know what a Jtag is nevermind what to do with one.

I can see it only being true in two ways.
Eather it now checks for SSV2 and rejects if its SSV1 which one of the downloaded versions of fable 3 are.
Or they changed the bit setting on fable 3 and it knows its a copy if it reports back with the same old generic one such as in Ixtream firmwares.
