Thats good news then smile.gif

Going back to my original question, whats the likelihood of them eventually adding changes to the profile that will prevent it from working on 9199 and lower?

I dont think it will be done right away if ever, i dont see them implementing it as i can still use my gamer tag on my friends 360 which has the OLDDDD dash. I dont see ANOTHER update coming out right away anyway.

IF they do it hopefully LT+ will be out by then to make it not an issue.

I dont think they will put system updates in the gamertag profile folder. Right now my gamer tag is still 15mg when transferring.

(I plugged into my modded 360 with the older dash, played a few games including Fable 3, saved, then moved the usb stick back to my 360 Slim unmodded, done this 5-6 times now today and no corrupt game saves or gamer tag.)

I hope they dont mess with it at all lol

Im thinking if they did it would be moving into the realm of crippling the same as they did with installing games to the HDD in the last ban wave. And we know how that turned out lol

Ok i played fable 3 on my modded 360 with old dash, got a few achievements.

Then moved my gamer profile and even the game saves from Fable 3 onto a USB stick and plugged that into my unmoded Xbox Slim and and playing original games online with no problems.

So transferring profiles between online and offline consoles is fine BUT NOTE THIS IS FOR modded consoles with the older dash.

It does NOT corrupt your gamertag.

Thanks, this is exactly what I was wondering.

Guys I have a banned 360 and an old iXtreme. All my games are patched to wave 3 with 360waves Patcher. If I update the dashboard will I be able to play the newer games like Fable III if I patch my ISO's to an older wave?

Thanks!

I'm new here so I don't really know the situation with moh.sakhaii.  But he was the only one to actually answer my question so i'm not sure what to believe now..lol

If anyone else has any info to throw at me regarding the situation I'd love to hear it.  Again i have a BANNED xbox (liteon with LT).  I don't care about online gaming, but i did want to purchase Kinect for my kids.  What sort of hoops am i gonna have to jump through to be able to get the kinect update and play some kinect games and backups?

I would take what moh.sakhaii says with a grain of salt. He is mainly flaming and doesn't have much evidence to prove his statements. If he is giving advice to people I would hate to see someone believing misleading information.

I can't imagine MS would ever prevent someone from playing games on a banned box as long as it is an original. With that said, since the point of a new LT fw is to spoof the ap2.5, making the xbox think it is an original, then if LT+ is released, it should play the backups again.  One thing is for sure, you will not be able to play kinect based backups on the new dash with a moded liteon DVD until a new FW is released that supports ap2.5. So at this point your best bet is to hold off on updating and buying kinect until the new LT+ comes out.

I am new on this forum, I have a few questions regarding AP 2.5 protection. I have read everything written about AP 2.5 protection of the new game, but we have not found the answer to my problems.
I have a xbox 360 with 1.4 FW (I know I have to update) with samsung DVD drive (lite-on replaced) , I use a wave patcher to patch my games to wave 2, using old dashboard, newer play online.

1. Can I play a new games (Fable 3, COD: BO) with old dashboard, using wave patcher without moving to a new dashboard?

2. If i update to the new dashboard will it disable playing old games on the existing FW?

3.I read that the Samsung drive is not recognized by AP 2.5 protection. So I have a samsung dvd drive (replaced lite-on) I'm I sure from activation AP 2,5 protection if I update to new dashboard?

I know these are stupid questions, but please someone responds

1. Yes, as long as the game doesn't require the new dash to run (IE: kinect only games). Fable III is fine on 9199 (I've tested it). Black ops should also work on the 9199 dash.

2. In theory this should work offline, however it would most likely flag you for ban since the games are wave patched (not stealth). I'm not positive since I don't want to risk testing this. I would recommend not updating dash until LT+ is out. Can someone verify if their xval is clean when using older FW and playing older games that are wave patched on new dash?

3. If I'm reading this right, the box came with a lite-on and you replaced it with a sammy? This will defiantly flag your box for ban if you update dash and play fable III. The new dash knows it should be a lite-on in the box. The Samsungs are only immune to ap2.5 if the box originally came with a sammy drive. Spoofing to a sammy doesn't work!!

Hi all.

Would firstly like to say thanks to all that are working so hard so try and get the AP.2.5 issue resolved.

Probably a total noob question, but I have looked about all over the place and have been unable to find an answer.

When a console gets flagged for a ban by MS, is it the actual 'console' that gets flagged, as in on the motherboard, or is the ban information applied to the HDD.

Reason I ask is that I have 2 360's, one that is modded and has never been online (and never will) and my online 360 that has not been modified or touched in any way that I really only use for arcade games (which I have purchased over 100 of !).

I swap my HDD from the online and offline console, so if the offline console does get flagged for a ban, I don't really care as it will never be connected to live to activate (if the ban is applied to the console itself). If however the ban is on the HDD, will this mean my online (unmodified) console will get banned.

Have not updated to the newest dash (and have no intention of doing so until all has been resolved), but I am just curious if anyone knows how the flagging actually works.

Thanks  smile.gif

That is the next thing that we could do with testing. It's too late for me, as my console is already flagged, but if someone who hasn't booted a backup of Fable 3 on a flashed console with the Kinect dashboard installed could try booting other backups and checking to see if their console is flagged, that would at least let people know whether the Fable 3 backup is the "trigger" for this or not.

I had no issues with my console before I tried playing Fable 3, but then I also did a couple of dashboard updates around the same time, so I'm not in a position to give reliable evidence in this case as I couldn't say for sure if it was Fable or a dashboard update that caused this.

i have xbox with modded disc drive but yeah the newer game for medal of honor work cause it brings up an error  backup fable is a trigger i think

Thanks man that was fast. Another dumb question,  it is known whether the newer games like NFS: HP, AC: Brotherhood will require the new dashboard update or it will be possible to play new games on the old dashboard as COD: BO 3 and Fable 3 playing now
Thanks.

There is no guarantee if things may change in the future, but I’ve never ran into a game that wouldn’t play on older dash versions as long as you patch them to remove the $systemupdate folders. I’m assuming the main reason MS started including the updates on the new wave games is to attack piracy, eliminate jtag exploits, etc. Before that, any game could play on any dash and I don’t see why things would change for normal non-kinect games. The main problem is if you want buy a kinect device, then your dash needs to be updated for the xbox to work with the device.

As of update 2.0.9199 and earlier when a console is flagged for ban offline, the NAND is flagged (not the HDD). If you don't know what a NAND is, google "Xbox 360 NAND". Once flagged, if you ever go online with that box, xbox live will ban and cripple it, causing your gamer profile to become corrupt if moved from that box and not allow you to save games to the HDD.

As of the new Kinect update, welcome to DASH BANS!!! If your box is flagged for a ban, you no longer have to log online to get your box banned and crippled, even offline your box will be instantly banned from Xbox Live and crippled as mentioned above.

If you use the same HDD on both boxes, once you update the Non-mod box to the new Kinect dash, the system update folder will be stored on your hdd and it will attempt to update your modified box to the new dash the next time you use it. If you update it and it is flagged, it will be banned (even if offline) and you will no longer be able to transfer your profile from your modded one to your non-modded one. No more profile sharing between boxes!

Conclusions,
Option 1: Get another HDD or memory card for the second box and don’t share memory, then you can safely update the non-modified box to new kinect dash. Now you can play safely between the both consoles.
Option 2: Replace the $systemupdate folder with an older version (Via connectivity kit and PC) each time you play on the modified (Ban Flagged) box.

How will this affect JTAGed 360s by the way? Will a JTAGed 360 be flagged when playing a AP2.5 game from hdd for instance? And if so, can this be prevented by removing the systemupdate folder?

Thank you  smile.gif  That is what I needed to know. Will get another HDD, download my profile again from live, and just start again on my non modded console  smile.gif Will then update my modded when its safe to do so  biggrin.gif

On the older dash 2.0.9199 or below, the ap2.5 will not be flagged on either a jtag or dvd firware modded box. I'm curious what would happen if a XBR update is made with the new Kinect dash? Since the new dash is smart enough to ban without being connected to live, I'm assuming it would be smart enough to detect a jtagged box. Someone will most likely have to remove the banning features from the dash before updating a jtag with the kinect dashboard.
