Boxxdr Method For 360 Slim Lite-on Pcb Swap
« on: October 12, 2013, 03:55:00 AM »

Sorry to revive a dead thread guys :/
I've searched all over the internet, and boxxdr.com is down so I can't get any of the images for this tut. I've got an rgh trinity, and a drive with a failed kamakaze. I have a few phat liteon drives, but it seems nearly impossible to fit the drive physically. I can use my drive with my box open, but its not aesthetically pleasing sad.gif. This seems to be the way to go  biggrin.gif
Can anybody give me some insight onto this method? Again, sorry for reviving an old thread, and if this isn't the way of the scene  ph34r.gif, I'll gladly open a new thread.

Thanks for any help,
Tauhir  smile.gif

So what do we do while we patiently wait for some iXtreme firmware for the new Lite-on DG-16D4S 360 Slim?
Well from the moment I heard we could get the key I had figured we could install a old lite-on 74850, 8xxxx or 9xxxx board.
What I didn’t know was how much work it was to make it fit. So after hours of playing around I did my first conversion and took some great pictures to share with all.

Many thanks to Geremia for his work on the Tarablinda drive firmware dump program. Thanks to anyone else that might have helped him write this code.

Required materials:

1)   Original Xbox 360 Lite-on or Benq Laser
2)   Lite-on drive circuit board form original Xbox 360. Any version
3)   Lite-on laser ribbon cable
4)   Original Xbox 360 Drive power cable. (or extend the 360 slim cable, yay)
5)   Electrical tape and Packing tape
6)   A small screw. Take one out of a old Samsung drive if you got it
7)   Thermal pads. Re use the ones that came with the lite-on or cut some out from the memory chip pads found under most 360 motherboards

Required tools:

1)   Soldering iron
2)   Hot glue gun
3)   High speed rotary tool with cutter
4)   Side Cutters

Steps not shown in this tutorial. (if you can’t figure them out then this probably isn’t for you.

1)   360 Slim disassembly (have fun!! Be patient)
2)   How to dump your key using Tarablida
3)   How to make custom firmware.
4)   How to swap 360 slim laser to benq/original lite-on laser

Apparently I can't post more than 10 pictures in one thread. To be continued.... Sure wish i was a mod. hint hint

Damn....it's like trying to fit an RB26 engine in a suzuki swift hatchback vehicle... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
But I have a question that no one has answered, how to spoof the liteon board (any version) to the 9504 drive version?

Geat work...for what it's worth I think you should be a mod too.  Looks like a fair bit of work.  I think by the time I do all that LT+ would be out  biggrin.gif

that is a one of the metod to flash the  xbox360 slim, beter is when we change the drive ,  only to cut some plastic and metal, in that boxxdr metod you cut a one part from the xbox360 on the first foto,in tehe  change drive metod you can back install the oryginal drive and make a soft mod.

When a hack comes out for the slim drive it is very much possible to reinstall the original slim original dvd drive board.

Anyone that does my method or simply uses a differnt drive is bound to set off flags in the 360 that will probably result in a ban down the road. I had considered dumping the motherboard nand before i did this hack and then when a slim firmware came out i would have restored the nand first and removed any flags. I just didn't feel like spending the extra time because i know alot of people that would be happy to use this offline only.
