Flashing A Spoofed Drive With Hacked Firmware
« on: February 02, 2020, 07:10:00 PM »

I have a question that may be able to be answered simply.

Say I have an XBOX 360 DVD Drive spoofed as a hitachi. How would I go about flashing that with hacked firmware?

Do I flash it with hitachi hacked firmware? Or with the original model firmware? Say if it was a Samsung spoofed as a hitachi, would I used Samsung hacked firmware to flash it?

Now if I was flashing it using the Samsung firmware, do I have to restore it to the original Samsung firmware first or can I flash it from the spoofed hitachi firmware?

With all this I am assuming I am using the same DVD Key in all steps as the original hitachi correct?

The drive needs the firmware that matches the make, if your drive is a Samsung then it needs the Samsung firmware.  The spoofing part just involves changing the OSIG string which identifies the drive as another make.

Flash the Samsung like any other already flashed drive then spoof it to look like a Hitachi again, don't be tempted to go to the Hitachi tab in JF as that won't work.  It's a Samsung so treat it like one....read the JF guide for more details.

The DVD check is now gone if you're on dash 8955 and above so you don't have to spoof anymore, as long as the key is good it'll work.  You won't last long on Live either way.
