Sent drive away to be flashed, and everything works the drive boots up fine and everything, but when the drive is closed it says to close the drive. Not sure what to do. Even when I manually eject an close it, its still saying to close the drive.

Anyone else have this porblem?

Problem with the open or close tray switches or a problem with the soldering on the wires to the circuit board. The Yellow and the White pairs of wires are what control open closed status.

I once had one with a tiny spec of dirt in the switch and it did what you were describing.

Yeah It could be anything lol, so hard to troubleshoot these kind of things.
I've tried almost everything known to man.

Since I have the key for the drive, I think I am just gonna use it to flash another drive.

Does anyone know if I can use my 9 series drive key to flash a 7 series or 8?

Yes, all liteon drives are identical except for the firmware.  Just write your v9 CFW to the 7 series ignoring the warnings from JF about non matching data etc.
