Replacing A Liteon With Benq
« on: June 24, 2010, 11:54:00 AM »

HI all,
My Lite-on dvd drive took a crap, so i am replacing with a Benq.  I already have the firmware from the Liteon drive, but i am unsure how to install that on the benq using Jungleflasher.  Is it as easy as it sounds,  just load the Liteon firmware into the target and write to the benq.  Any help would be appreciated.

Load Lite-on fw as source.

Load benq fw as target. (iXtreme lt 1.1 if you want backups)

Click spoof source to target.

Flash

Yes it is that easy.

I was in the process of doing this and just after i unlocked the BenQ drive my PC (xp x86 partition) BSOD.  Now Jungle Flasher on either XP or Win7 can not see the drive.  The drive is from a dead MoBo, so I can't get the key from it.  Is ther a way to recover the BenQ drive?

I thought maybe I could reflash to the original firmware in my Linux partition if Linux can see the drive, but wasn't sure it would work.  Do I have to have the drives original Key in order to fix it or is there another way?

Thanks in advance.

if you are using a via card, hit intro and power cycle.  ignore the fact that jf doesn't detect the drive, it will pop up after you intro and power cycle.
