Hello,

I bought a Maximus Xtractor + spear when it came out.
The USB broke after a while and I orderd a new one. (the newer 1.2 revision)
But I found out I could still read through the RS232 port, so I never used the newer one.

But now I'm having problems with reading a liteon drive.
And I can't seem to get it working with either Xtractor

I connect everything to the Xtractor:
- The molex-power cable
- The RS232 cable to the computer
- The Spear

At that point I get a blue light on the Xtractor when I power it on and a green light on the spear.
So it seems that everything works fine.

But as soon as I connect the power output cable to the drive (liteon), the second led on the spear turn blue. (Not as bright blue as when you connect to the R707 point)
But the probe is connected to nothing!

And when I connect the probe to the R707 point it gives me the same weak blue light.
And in jungleflasher it keeps giving me 'serial data is bad'.

Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong here?

What Liteon version do you have?

It's a liteon 748.. that I have flashed a couple of months ago.
I have flashed many many drives with this kit.
Also a couple of 93450c drives, but the last one I got couldn't get past the 0x52 status. (maybe something related?)
So I don't understand..

Couldn't fine an EDIT button.

When you connect the Liteon 748.. drive and go straight to the MTKFlash tab.
Is it normal that I can't do a device intro there?
It keeps giving me a 0x52 status.

Can there be something wrong with my drivers that causes this behavior?

First off once ANY Liteon has been flashed with LT then you can no longer dump the key with a probe. You will have to dump it by using the MRA method if you didnt keep a backup of the drive key.

Also any newer Liteon such as the 93450c cant be done by the normal probe ether and needs to be done the MRA method as well. You will ether need to do it THIS way or get the Vampire addon which still requires trace cutting and soldering.

But the liteon I want to flash has got iXtreme 1.6 on it. (He still needs an activation disc when he want to play games.) So the spear should work on it.

But whatever liteon drive I want to flash, I get a 0x52 status when I do the device intro.
Benq, samsung and hitachi all work perfectly.

As for the 93450c I always used this method like you said.
And it was always successful in the past.

You don't "just intro" a LiteOn,

You want to DVDKey it if you plan on using a spear.

Or dummy from iX if its 1.6

But when I try to extract the dvdkey it gives me a "serial is bad" error.

I know how to flash drives, I have flash every type of drive that exists.

Summery:

Liteon 74850c drives:
-> I get a weak blue light on the spear as soon as I connect power to the liteon drive.
-> When I put the probe to the correct hole on the drive the weak blue light stays the same (does not light up more)
-> When I pres the dvdkey button i get the "Serial is bad" error.
-> When I do the device intro, it fails and ask me to to the intro again (so powering on and off), but keeps giving me status 0x52

liteon 83850c V1 drives:
-> They work

liteon 83850c V2 and 93450c drives:
-> I put the switch on 'on' and do the intro, it fails and ask me to to the intro again (so powering on and off), but keeps giving me status 0x52

ALL other drives work.

And to be clear: I know how to flash drives, I have done many before.
There must be a problem with the xtractor or with my pc, but I don't know what.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

0x52 usually means either:

Youve not cut it properly

You have the switch in the wrong position

You havent pulled the voltage down enough

But you know how to flash all drives, so I guess its pointless me telling you.

I checked all the traces with a multimeter.
I replaced the resistor with a smaller/bigger one.
But 22ohms always did the trick before.
The switch is 'on' position and I tried many other solutions too.

I like to thank you for your response, but that can't be the problem.
How would you explain the problem with the 74850c drives then?

are you just doing a key extraction on the 7xxx or a complete dump. if just key using usb extractor, it sounds to me like you forgot to half open the drive.

I tried both.
I did the drive half open for the key extraction.
And that also wouldn't explain the weak blue LED light on the spear before connecting to the proper hole.

you are really gonna have to go into detail about what exact equipment you used and what method you used with it because as far as i can tell you have em all mixed up.
