Benq & New 74850 Liteon Options
« on: May 03, 2010, 03:42:00 PM »

Ok, so I've got two drives here and what I was wondering is, has anyone tried swappng the laser from a liteon into a benq and noticed whether it read backups any smoother.
I know they are interchangeable and look the same but if they are a slightly different item that would explain why the Benq didn't seem quite as happy as it should reading backups (Assassins Creed, GTA IV, etc) compared to when the liteon came around.

The benq issues reading games like GTA4 was fixed a long time ago. Just use the newest iXtremeLT and you will get good results.

Swapping the laser isn't going to help because the problem you are talking about was caused by a issue with the older benq ixtreme firmware.

However, If your benq has a crappy laser swapping it to another one may make things work better for you.
