Toca 3 Discovery
« on: April 19, 2006, 12:55:00 PM »

I was messing around earlier today trying to make my copy (original) work from the HDD. I am by no means an expert but found that converting the 5 filenames with the numeric names to decimal and hex gave interesting results. I have absolutely no idea how releavnt this is nor if it has been discovered before. Below is what I found.

Notice the converted values for the long and shortend values are identical. Does this mean anything??

The Five files that have their names changed when ripped to HDD

When the game disc is copied to the HDD

What's your point beige??

The size of the filename has obviously been cut by the xbox's limited number of character allowance. Developers know this and I find it rather hard to believe that the relationship between the full filename and the cut filename hex and dec values, which we can see are identical, are not in some way related to the security.

Either Toca 3 has some shit hot security and no one can crack it, or the game isn't very popular so no one who can is bothered. Anyone know which it is?

have you tried renaming the files to those names ? .. can you match up the numbers to the names ? .. i'm going to take a look at this tonight , i want this game on the harddrive .. (i know a softmod works)

EDIT: nope .. that doesn't work .. i took the 5 long character files and renamed them all to the 5 names u specified above..i editted them and im 99% sure i renamed the right ones, no dice ..

Yes RD2 is a nice game.
At the Moment i am working on a Big Modpack for the Game.
New Cockpitcam, new Skins for the Cars (lots of V8 Cars), more Tracks useable in Simulation Mode.
Changing the Masters Grand Prix into Formula One and so on.

This will be a Big Update. Maybe End of this Week iàm ready and will upload it to Rapidshare or Filefront.

Greetings
