Convert Pc Saves To Xbox (is It Possible?)
« on: April 16, 2006, 02:25:00 PM »

Ok. I just bought Star wars knights of the old republic 1 and 2 for the computer. I have both on the xbox. See the main reason i bought them was because i was gunna make a couple of game saves for action replay on the xbox. Plus i wanna get a great fun time playing the game on the xbox since ive beaten the game alot. I have action replay, and both games on both systems. Is it possible to convert Star wars KOTOR 1 & 2 PC saves to Xbox ar saves? If so please tell me how. My xbox is non-modded if that matters. I found a site that says if my xbox is not modded, i have to buy Mega X-Key (product info below). I was just wondering if anyone knew a way where i wouldnt have to buy it. But if i truly have to buy mega X-key then i will. Because i so want to make saves for xbox. KOTOR 1 and 2 has a save game editor (available through the lovely google) which allows you to do EVERYTHING, edit inventory, stats, exp whatever.

Picture is jpg so it wont take long to load and wont take up much space (im nice like that!)

Mega X-Key is only 25 dollars, so if i really have to buy it, i have enough money. Besides im buying 2 game controller converters to allow me to plus in PS2+N64 controllers to the pc as well as Xbox to pc controllers which is only 15 dollars. SO if i do have to buy mega xkey, i have the money to do it.

ok since im really good with the computer, i did a little snooping into the games files (PC version of KOTOR 1) The swkotor INI file in the main folder of kotor can be edited with notepad. I found Screen resolution, and since the higher the resolution the more CPU and RAM needed to run the game cleanly. So what i did, i set the Height resolution to 300, and width to 400 making it half as easier to run then at 800x600. I can even increase texture quality and it runs smoothly! But i still would like to put it into an xbox action replay save or straight to my xbox...

Ok, you must be a foreigner (meaning a non-United States individual), so I'm gonna break this down for you.  If you've beaten these two games so many times why did you buy the PC versions?  You beat them on xbox, so those saves would work on said xbox.  Why the need to create PC game saves?  Game saves are pretty damn proprietary.  That means you can't convert because the developer has made the game so it uses the system resources and all systems are created differently.  Having a non-modded xbox is a non-issue.  Congratulations on having an xbox with limited capabilities.  Mega X-key is no different than the stupid ass action replay you've purchased.  What you really should have is XBSM (Xbox Save Manager).  And since Kotor seem to have a lovely game editor and you OWN every version of this shitty game, why in the hell do you care?  Play it on PC and leave it alone!  I hope I helped, you leech!

first of all im not a foreigner. Second of all, i wanna create a pc save for the xbox version because i added items and such to my inventory so i can play it with said items from the beginning. And third of all, im not a leech. i was kind and asked nicely, and u responded violently. and if we are gunna be throwing words around, i think im gunna start off by calling you a douche bag. and if its such a shitty game, how come its gotten more GOTY awards then all the games youve played since you were shitting in your pants?

You're right.  I was a little on edge, a bit off base, and a tad drunk.  I apologize for my rudeness and will sum it up for you.  No, it's possible.  Sorry to ruin your hopes and dreams.  And as for the GOTY awards, Awards are all a popularity contest.  Once again, sorry to upset you and I hope you may some day find what you are looking for...

It's rare that you can convert saves from a PC game to the Xbox version and vice versa but in some cases it is very much possible and I have done it myself in the past.

If you are very lucky the developer will not have changed the save format between the two versions, in which case you will need to add the Xbox save signature to the PC file and update any checksums as needed.  For more info on Xbox save signatures check out www.xbox-saves.com

If the format has changed you'll need to figure out how it's changed and reorder/delete/add data as needed, in most cases this is far too much of a struggle to do and if this is the case I'd just give up right now.
