Known security vulnerability.... great, so now we're all flagged. Good thing they took 3 months to test this firmware before releasing it!

Ben-Q drives are a must update for vulnerability.
Lite-On drives are for media compatibility only.

Glad I didn't bother with modding anymore. All BenQ's flagged already.

Yeah, and the release says it so coyly.

Basically from the looks of it, all Benq's with LT1.0 are going to get banned. And at a guess it will be done one week before WaW2 comes out.

Just out of curiosity with the Liteon upgrade, those with the dirty disk error, if they rip the original to their hard drive and then use the backup just to load the games first few seconds to play the game off hard drive does this overcome the problem?

Actually, all BenQs are not flagged already.  This is the statement from Team Jungle:

"Firmware for Benq & LiteOn bring’s media compatibility updates and, iXtreme LT 1.0 apparently also has a detectable flaw, MS currently aren’t checking for. C4Eva & TeamJungle discovered the bug before MS, and Patched it. You are advised to update now, before they do start checking. (Thanks Peggle)"

As you can see, there are no checks for it as of yet.

This sounds like bad news for all benq owners. I'm just happy I never have to bother about dvd firmware again thanks to my JTAG box that never goes online.

Don't cry if you modded.  Can't blame anyone besides yourself.  You shouldn't care at all.  You should know your going to get banned from the get go.  When is the only question you should ever be wondering.

You are very naive if you believe that you are safe.  If it's true that Microsoft was unaware of this "security bug" -- and you're taking their word for it -- then they certainly are aware of it now.

It will be a relatively minor affair for them to diff the two firmware releases and see what changes and devise a new check for it.  Who knows what their turn around time might be, but assuming there is no checks for it now (skeptical), then you need to update immediately if you hope to avoid getting flagged.

Aww man I just flashed my Lite-On like 3 days ago lol

I thought somethin' was up though, burned a brand new disc of Forza and once or twice I got the dirty disc error, most of the time it would just freeze while loading after pressing start. Other games were fine though, I don't know :S
